Darcy Parish
I'm not concerned with Parish's height. 180 is fine for a midfielder.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JOEL SMITH
Interesting signing. I know nothing at all about him! I will be down at Casey so I will see how he develops next season.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
Jeez, our second round pick is overs. The Demons are like the eager to please kid in the school yard. They roll over to please the popular kids (Collingwood, essendon) Can't recall a good outcome trading with essendon or Collingwood. They always sneak one past us. They would be loving a second rounder for melksham.

My father in law is a mad Essendon man, and as a result I have had to sit through many essendon games on TV. I simply don't understand why we are going to fork out $$$ for Melksham. He isn't the player we are looking for, and a second rounder or Toumpas to then bring in melksham at 400k for 4 years isn't making us any better. Maddening!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM WEIDEMAN
Pick 6 is a mid if we keep it. Wouldn't be surprised if we traded out of the first and second round if the right deal comes up. Weideman will be solid, but I can't see him going as early as pick 6 if we held on to that pick.

The rookie list is there for a reason. Picking up a potential late bloomer with a rookie pick is low risk high reward. Wouldn't be at all disappointed if he was given another chance on our rookie list.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
He would smash it as a docker. With pav and macpharlane retiring they have the cap space. Sending their first round pick and a fringe player back won't hurt them. I can see this happening.

Darcy Parish
Parish sounds like a good prospect, but am I the only one who thinks we won't be drafting in the top 20 this year? I get the feeling we will be trading any top picks. Parish would be good if we can get him but I have the feeling we are going in a different direction.

I would take a punt on O'Meara. We need to inject some pedigree into this team even if it means taking an educated risk.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Collingwood have the cap room for Dangerfield, their list management had been clever the past few seasons and I'm sure if Swanny is done the pies could strike a deal with 800k+ per season. Hawthorn simply cannot have the cap room for a top tier free agent.

He shouldn't cost too much. Currently tipped to go late in the draft as it is, and it would be odd for anyone to bid overs for him.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Looking at those stats it is clear Aish has really stalled in his development. Have to question what the problem is. If he is SA bound then he might not get the return the lions want via trade. Maybe we come in and sweeten the deal with the lionsand take a flyer on him turning it around? Shouldn't be commanding too much if he keeps performing in line with this season's stats. Would love Prestia, and wonder what his market value would be.

Shiel signing has destroyed my week! I think Bail and Jordie are done.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Interesting discussion trading Grimes. He is probably the best depth player we have, and appears to be a great clubman. A 4th round pick is about the right currency at the moment, in what has been said to be a shallow draft I would think Grimes is worth keeping over a 4th round pick. Doubt Grimes is in our top 10 paid so there is no salary benefit moving him on.

Aaron vandenBerg
Not yet, but you would think that is a lock to happen before seasons end.

Aaron vandenBerg
Hardly looks like a first year player out there, looks so composed. Sure he was a mature age recruit but he has really adapted well. Loving the way he goes about his footy, he is hard at it and his second efforts are brilliant.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
According to the demonland contracts thread we have a large number out of contract. You would think delistings would likely come from those out of contract. The Thread lists the following player out of contract :Trengove, Jamar, Garland, McKenzie, Howe, Gawn, Fitzpatrick, Toumpas, Pedersen, Hunt, Cross, Bail, Riley, Harmes, King, Vandenberg, White. I think Jamar and cross could hang up their boots at seasons end, meaning we would still be likely to make another 4-5 list changes. VandenBerg will be upgraded, and the other 3 rookies will likely be retained for another year. There are a few on this list playing for their careers. Garland will be offered good money to stay, and you would think with Jamars pending retirement that Gawn and/or Fitzpatrick will get at least another 1-2 year deal until we figure out our ruck situation . Pedo has done enough for an extension, however he could be on the table for trade. The remaining list changes are likely to contain a bulk of the players I haven't mentioned, and the odd trade we don't see coming. Howe will likely be traded, I hope he is used to secure an asset that will help us immediately.

Fix the Midfield and we'll rise very quickly!
We need another 4-5 quality mids if we are going to see drastic change. These fringe players from other clubs are handy, but when your list is made up of them you have a problem on your hands. We have far too many players who are handy, but not stars. Must pay top dollar to bring a top mid to the club.

End of the NBL?
The ABL was resurrected when the MLB took over ownership and poured cash into. MLB Players are sent to Australia to work on their game during the offseason which lifts the quality of play in the ABL. The NBL would need a similar lifeline with a cash and player injection. If the number 13-15 guys on the bench of an NBA roster came out of to Oz the standard of play would be a drastic improvement. Also free agents trying to get back into the NBA have a feeder league that doesn't require them to go to Europe or China. In order for this to work the league must run parallel to the NBA or D-League to remain viable. Also visibility and TV rights need reviewing. Get this on free to air and get it trending.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
I feel McCartin will go #1 if the saints hold on to it. He is exactly what they need, and will be rebuilding for a few years which will allow him to develop under Riewoldt's tutelage. Petracca and Brayshaw at 2 and 3 is a possibility. Although, I am intrigued by Wright, I think we will go with 2 mids if given the chance.
