  1. Rich V Naita. Rich is more polished, and would be ready to go round 1. Naita not so much, but has a MASSIVE upside. Naita has more devleopment left in him, IF, and i mean IF he can continue to develop (read he has not been playing the game all that long, has plenty more to learn) Naita could be a club changing choice. Rich is safe.....but will safe win us a flag, win us supporters? Naita could if he continues to develop.
  2. Freo are dead set rubbish. If we will win any game this year, it will be against this bloody soft mob. Sure they were good agains the cats, but we were not all that bad when we went to the cattery. Most Vic sides dont play WA well, and freo are a travelling circus. I am not going to say we will win, but FFS, we are talking about Freo. I will be at the game, as i would find it very hard to see freo smashing us. Sure they are favoured to win (and rightly so, we are playing a shocking brand of footy) but Freo are no certainty against us over here. In WA a different story, over here the game is available for the taking.
  3. Buckets will play again soon enough. Would like to see him in the red and blue a few more times, given the teams future I would put an untried kid ahead of him for the simple fact that we must blood these kids asap if we are to climb out of this dark hole we are now in. Buckets is a MUST against the woods (he makes Rocca look second rate). Not sure how many games are left for him. May get a run when we play saints if G-Train is still operating at FF.
  4. From memory we defeated Carlton in 1997 when they were supposed to give us a towelling. Shock victory, but a enjoyable one. This year Carlton gave us a towelling and they are still a bottom 5 team. This season takes the Cake for sure! Instead of landing Trapper like we did in 1997, we may just land outselves a player that can bring in the young kids to see the dees play.
  5. Going to the football Vs doing some gardening or some other mundane task that is called a "hobby" if you are over 70. gee, a real tough one that one. Will watch a cow play ping pong if it means getting out, drinking beer and yelling for 4 straight hours. Win or lose, it is good fun!
  6. Look, I am with you on the backline. The guys have copped a HEAP of flack, and have been under the pump every quarter of everygame. They are not the best backline, but they sure as hell are not the worst. The Faith may be blind for bails, but we had to see this coming. Bails needs more time, a poor start so far i will admit. You never know what the intentions of this season are. MAybe the point is to try the list so he can move forward. we dont know. I have been a supporter of miller for a while, but his form is just not up to stratch, and the bagging comes from him being a constant non performer. On a losing team, a beaten player is a target. And miller is usually beaten. All the players on our list can PLAY...but they cannot WIN, that is the problem.
  7. Caroll plays! Martin is a prospect, Caroll may not be a fan Fav, but he is solid and deserves his spot. Batram did miss a year of footy, and playing with THIS team is not going to help him build confidence. don't give up on him just yet. That said, time in the 2nds could only do him good Dunn is more useful than miller. Dunn stays -miller to the zebs. Bell- worries me, not in good form, but is a good enough player to bounce back. Maybe a week off would do him some good. Robbo- has had 6 chances, is running out of chances very quickly. Bucks, bate and newton in for me thanks guys. Maybe a garland swap for Warnock could be in order.
  8. I can hear the AXE grinding as I write this. Finals are a pipe dream, and the chances of us winning a few is looking bleak. The chance to give kids a run is from now until round 22. If we are going to lose anyway, what do we gain by playing underperforming vets? (miller and co). Messen doesnt deserve a run, he was grossly poor IMO when i watched him against a weak bendigo side. Valenti- promote him and see if he has the balls to cut it at the top level...he might suprise a few people! Buckley, needs to come in. Has the pace to adapt at this level, just needs some time to get into the groove. CJ could even have a run. Maric can kick goals......our current forwardline cannot (pardon to Wonna, who has been a shining light for us this season) Changes start now!
  9. THe writing was on the wall for this list last year. They we average, and a new coach and some fresh faces was not going to take this list anywhere soon. We do have a good bunch of kids, and I would say most clubs do. I would say we would be one of the more fortunate clubs in the fact that many of our up and comers look like solid sorts. Over the past few drafts, most picks have shown us that they will be around for some time. Some (jones, morton and mclean) look like stars in the making. We have not had any early dud picks (dont see any Aaron Fioras on our list), and could look to build through the next draft. If we could land a genuine superstar or two in the next draft (Naita could be one given the press on this kid, he sounds like the Michael Jordan of the AFL....and hasn't even been drafted yet). Going to be a tough ride, we bottomed out at a GREAT time, after this next draft we should have enough quality kids to start building around next season.
  10. He is getting better, problem is he is still not at the level a top pick should be at this point in his career. Injuries have played a big part in this. Col has shown us enough to be a best 22 sort. Another year of this should see him develop into one of our better players.
  11. Wonaeamirri- WORTH BUYING A 2009 MEMBERSHIP JUST TO SEE THIS KID DEVELOP! Bad result, Like Cam Bruce's efforts, sylvia did some nice bits and pieces. Still far from winning a game the poor ol dees. Time to start taking the axe to the list. Making small shitty changes is not working. Time to chop 4, and bring in a fresh 4 blokes who actually want to play. Sure we may lose, but in our write ups it will give us something to look forward to, instead of underperforming vets. If the "game plan" is too hard to teach, kids should be the first to develop, they are not having to relearn anything, everyhting is new to them at this level. So throw in the quick learners!
  12. 15,000? Plus 200 seagulls sitting in our forwardline.
  13. We have never really been a lightning quick team. Our fitness is a concern, we do not seem to burst he game open, nor do we shut our opponents down when they turn up the intensity. Why can't we lift a gear? Players? Fintess? Footy Smarts? I have no idea what is going on, but this is the youngest demons list we have had in a while, and we should be much fitter/quicker than an ageing lions team. Not the case!
  14. We are getting smashed. On the upside we are getting to see what some of the lesser known players are capable of. I think Bails need another season to before we pass judgement. If the hawks had booted clarkson a few years back, they would not be where they are today. I am not saying he is doing a fine job, I am just saying this season is a write off, we need to see what he can do with this list next year.
  15. Frawley should develop at lightning pace considering how much the ball is going to be pumped into the backline over the next 16 weeks. Bartran will also get a chance to shut down a good player, he should also thrive in this style game. Will be a blowout, I am just keen to see how our players handle such as task. If they get within 20 points, I will predict that we will defeat Freo the following week. If we get smashed by over 50 points, Freo will no doubt have the confidence to smash us at home next week. By pick, Lions & co by 45 points.
  16. The eagles form is poor, but they have a much richer list than we do. They should be able to notch up wins against sides who travel to the west. WC will win at least 3-4 games more than we will this season. Port has bounced back, it looks like the dunce teams in the afl will be WC, Essendon,Carlton, Freo and of course, the mighty dees. Good news for us us we still get to play 4 of those 5 teams, we may just win a few (essendon have so many injuries that they should be considered a walk over). If i were an eagles fan i would have less to worry about than a dees fan.
  17. ALLLL about the $$$. They want more clubs, which means more games and more $$$$. This should protect us if anything. Sure, the comp gets tighter, drafts get harder. But if it means keeping the club alive via more funds being pumped into the clubs, I am all for it. Plus, you miss one valuable point of bringing in 2 new teams. That is 2 more teams we all get to hate with a passion. Get your hate on!!!
  18. Valenti - Looked good, will play in red and blue this year. Buckley- How quick is this guy? I know many of us had him penciled in as a also ran, but he has got some run and some footy smarts. Needs to be tested at afl level for a few weeks in a row. I think he could be a handy player. CJ- a VFL killer, yet cannot bring his A game to the A grade. Just cant seem to hang on to a senior spot. Should not be too far awaygetting another shot at seniors.. Yze- Still magic when he wants to turn it on, problem is he should be killing he VFL, and fell a tad short of doing so. Bate - He is not 100%. Starting to build some form and fitness, not too far off. Holland- He looks Quick and agile at VFL level....that demonstrates just how different the tempo from VFl ot AFL is. Played well, and will play against collingwood to play on Rocca (another quick VFL player ) Meesen- Why did we trade for him?? He makes jamar look like dean cox! Not going to cut it. He is just roster filler. Maric - Going to be a good MFC player, he out oooozed Adem Yze! Spencer - Looks like napoleon Dynamite, could end up being just pure dynamite if he can develop. Showed more than meese, should be looked at later on in the year for senior selection to see how he fairs. Bode - Took a step back IMO. Was playing against a poor side, and did not dominate. Needs to work really hard if he is to make the grade. Martin- Good in a contest, kicks like a gumby. I think he could be the next Ingerson (reliable defender, ugly technique) Cheney - Was he sporting a Fanta Mullet??? Looks good, needs a better hairdresser.
  19. Yep, totally agree with Gouga, Stynes is the man to use in the commercial. Can always make reference to that stupid hat he wore in the game, remember because the "sun was in his eyes". CLASSIC. Synzy was a charlie medalist, and consec games record holder. He deserves his own commercial.
  20. McLean and Jones are our best 2 young midfielders. The dees will not trade them, they are not going anywhere. wiht Morton developing, and Ricky and Bate due back soon, we should see the young core start to gel. Also a quick mention about Chip- he looks a good sort down back for many years to come. IF anyone will be traded it will be your vets. I will not mention names, we all know changes will be made and a few fan favs will be delisted or traded. These names will not include Jones and Brock.
  21. I cannot imagine how hard that would have been. To work in the field in such a way would really scar your mind. I always though Chopper Carroll was a hard man, I understand now where he gets it from.
  22. Bate must not be fit. HE is one of our top 10 plyers at the ckub, fot him not to be selected in a winless team, means he is still a week away (which means if he is fit next week he will be playing regardless- they wil drop anyone to put him in). Garland is an interesting selection. He has earnt the right to wear the jumper, so i will support the move. I hope he can show some poise and retain his spot. As for Buckley playing? I would think if anyone is carrying an injury it would be Moloney. He doesn't seem quite right at the moment. A bit sluggish and is not playing with his head up. Might need to go down and build some fitness and confidence at Sandy. Big game for Dunn/Miller. If either of these two were to stink it up this week, you are looking at one of them possibly being dropped for Bater next week.
  23. The upcoming drafts are about to be mined by the new teams. this could be one of the last legit drafts for current teams. #1 and #2 pick will carry more value than previous years. That said, there is not package we could offer to pry pick #2. We would have to give up so much for the other team to entertain the idea. Is rich worth jones, mclean and pick 17? I find that hard to believe. Rich might be good, but he cannot be good enough to rid us of our best 2 young midfielders and pick 17. Because that is what we sould have to package for pick #2. IMO Brock and Jones are the genuine article. Rich has not proved himself at afl level, our boys have. Pick 17 could still carry some strong value, i know after pick #10 things get a tad murky, the odd gem has popped up around the late teens draft selection. I say we keep it and see what happens. I am ALL for trying to grab as many late first rounders and as many second round picks as possible. I think the top 5 will be off limits this year, or they could be dealt for a kerr/brown type player. If we can land a few more picks from 15-30 i think we should be alright.
  24. Fev wants to play in the NFL. He trains once a week working with a punting coach, and has plans to wind up his career at 30 and head over to the states. He has been scouted as a potential punter, and Fev is looking at it as a late career move. How do I know this? Spoke with Angelo Fevola (nice bloke) in person about his sons future. He also did state that he loves Carlton, and he LOVES having Judd at the club. Fev will not leave the blues unless he is shoved (ie donkey contract offer). Would Fev be good at the dees? Fev would be good at ANY afl club. He would be treated like a GOD at the demons, as we are in need of an Identiy. Fev could be that idol we crave. Can't see Carlton letting him go over a small thing like a contract term.
  25. Can't wait to see some of the up and coming red and blue on Saturday. I hope Meese gets a game, keen ot see how he goes also.
