This thread has some fire to it. Mumford will most likely end up being better than Jamar, but Jamar is not a bad ruckman if that is what you require. He will not kick 80 goals a year down forward, but he will win taps outs around the ground and is a good mark. Jamar looks likely to be a big trade target, and given the dees lust for earlier picks we could see him playing elsewhere nest season, leaving us with meesen, johnno and spencer. If this happens we chase Mumford, even at 1 mill over 3 years ( a tad rich for my liking, but there are worse contracts out there) he will be the best option going forward. I think you will find jamar+50 go to port for pick their second round pick, something along those lines. That does leave pick 34 to trade to perhaps Geelong for Mumford, or Geelong may ask for more such as on trading ports second round pick. Hard to gauge value on players and picks, geeling do need to shed some cap space and getting pick 34 instead of losing Mumford for nothing is at least something.

I cannot see this deal happening. Carlton has requested a 1st rounder from Collingwood or Essendon if they want Fev, and Collingwood have declared they will not use their 1st rounder on Fev. Collingwood have eyed for Jolly, and will be trying to find a way to get Luke Ball across. No room in negotiations for Fev. My Guess: Fev stays at Carlton, or gets cut. Although, Essendon do have 2x 1st rounders now........pick 16 would be enough to get the deal done.....

This trade will lead to more activity in trade week. Consider Essendon and St Kilda major players now, as Ball is certain to be shifted, and Essendon will certainly make a bigger play for Burgoyne. They are just getting started. Once/If Burgoyne moves, I expect the dees to be involved in moving a player or two to improve their draft positions.

In short: We are trading some fringe players and picks 34 & 50 to gain a few spots in the draft. The dees will be hunting in that #10-30 type area. This means most of our fringe players are being shopped for next to nothing. Jamar/Bell/Bucks/Miller/Dunn would be names one the table along with picks 18-50 depending on what we can get in return.

Mumford is a great option, If Jamar is traded.

I am against helping hawthorn in any capacity. They are hawthorn after all, and if they fail we gain some leverage in the PSD. No doubt Essendon will have the fire power to land Burgoyne now as they have an extra pick to dispose of.

Mclean was not the biggest key to our future- that player is Grimes. Rose coloured glasses must be given our with memberships these days! If people really love Brock that much- I hear the CFC have things called "memberships", perhaps you should buy one if you wish to see the 'biggest player in our future" playing for them. Murphy and Mclean will co-exist in the blues midfield, they are different players.
-
Freak, I still do not think the Scott Thompson move has killed us, and I do not agree the brock move will bit us in the bum. Brock is a gun, but he is one more injury away from the glue factory. He was a step behind the pace this year, one more injury and he would be walking out there. Brock has more value than Miller, but the key difference between the two is one wants to stay, and the other doesn't. Would rather a guy who wants to play for the jumper than an a more talented (injury prone) guy that doesn't.

Good Luck Brock and thanks for the memories. I hope you have a long and successful career at Carlton. That said, all bets are off, when you line up against us you become the enemy.

Every club has one of these lists, it is part of running a club. On the other side of coin we have had some impressive trades go our way (Phil Gilbert for Jeff Farmer). The past is what it is, move on and hope out future can be brighter without these players (none of the above mentioned could deliver us a flag so why pine over them!) All Clubs in all sports make mistakes, Michael Jordan was drafted with the 3rd overall pick in the 1984 NBA draft. The portland trailblazers may never live that down (pick #2), but to dwell in the past is to miss the present, and hopefully bright future of a club.

Essendon are primed to grab him at 10, if he slides to 11 he fits a need for us at the MFC. We can dream, but in reality i do not think it will happen.

We could always trade jamar, and wipe the slate clean by drafting a ruckman in the top 20. It is not like we will be winning more than 8 games next season, so buying a winning ruckman VS drafting a talented ruckman will have little bearing on how many games we win next year. Much of a muchness really. Having the Kid has a greater upside, that said Mumford still is a Kid and has shown glipses of talent. For pick 50? In a heart beat!

I was hoping we could secure Luke Ball, if this is true then we are out of the race as the dees have stated they will not be trading pick 18, meaning pick 34 would be the only pick we could use to get ball (which was a far fetch anyway) Seems to be a busy trade week, I was hoping a quality player would slip into the PSD seeing as though we did not gain a top established player in last years PSD. If Collingwood can secure Ball and Jolly, they will be a dangerous outfit next season. With some luck I would like to see Ball make it to the dees, he is a player that could help develop younger kids at the club.
-
No on Jolly. Maybe on Blake Yes on Mumford if available for next to nothing.
-
Miller would be a nice fit in a winning side. I am thinking he signs and stays on for 2 more. If we were willing to trade him, this year is the year to do it due to the draft being touted as a weak crop.

So how many more players do we need to Delist/Trade?
Adzman replied to Bates Mate's topic in Melbourne Demons
If moving Bell/Jamar/Miller and Buckley can improve our spot in the draft, we may as well look at what is out there. Brock was in our best 22 and was traded, I would consider the above to be on the cusp of the best 22. all these guys can play, but would all be better suited to a stronger team as none of the mentioned players are match proven game winners. They could all be strong addtioans to a winning side, as for us our 22 is up in the air so seeking picks could work for both parties. The more I read, the more I am convinced Jamar is on the move. Bell, Miller and Bucks on the move? Your guess is as good as mine! -
Might we worth a smokey, but I cannot see it happening to be honest. Jurrah had clubs after his services this time last year, the new Liam appears to be just hitting his strides at senior level in the NT.
-
Jetta at pick 18? He sounds solid, but I have 2 concerns. 1. he may go earlier in the draft. 2. Where will he fit in the dees best 22, can he be groomed to fill a need? Jetta or Black @ pick 18 is the question. Seems to be many building a case for either, and it could come down to who gets snapped up with pick 11. leaving the dees to draft for best available player to fill a needed position at pick 18.
-
Would be keen on Salopek. He is a Narre boy, would like to see him come home and play for the dees. Have not heard any concrete sources out here that suggest he is on the move. I will keep my ears open around the traps and see what I can find out.
-
Butcher is not going to be a bust pick, but a top 5 pick he is not. The dees will take 2 mids with picks 1+2 since losing brock, this may have been a different tale had brock stayed around. The dees will see what is available at pick 11, and if Butcher is there along with some other bigs then the dees will have a look at him for sure. If Talia/Butcher/other top prospect fall to pick 11 then one of them is on their way to the MFC. Scully and Trengrove for 1+2 for me.

Dawes for Pick 18 and Simon Buckley on the move
Adzman replied to demonglory's topic in Melbourne Demons
Dominating at VFL level equates to jack schitt! Collingwood have been dying to find someone to replace fraser and rocca. If Dawes was a strong player he would have been in that collingwood 2009 side as a regular fixture. A player for player deal could work if people think he is a chance at making it, but pick 18 is still decent enough to unearth untapped potential that could help us build towards a flag. Dominating at VFL will not mean you are going to have a successful AFL career. -
We will see what happens, there will be many unseen moves that will happen next week, Knights to the dees would be a nice one. If Knights is contracted odds are he will stay unless he comes out publicly and says he wants out.
-
No thanks! Dawes is overrated!
-
I don't like either of the deals one bit. Everitt is rubbish for pick 18, Westhoff is rubbish, and a top 10 pick is not worth parting with our senior backman and only proven ruckman.
-
You think he will still be on the board around the pick 18 mark?? Could be an option, 195cm is nothing to scoff at if the skills and work ethic are there. Worth a look.
