It means a little
ive seen article saying demons win 2 from 2. God knows we need some positive press
good for membership. Good for confidence.

He was notably poor today with the ball. Although his number one role is to beat his opponent and he did that. He still needs coaching on how to play to his strengths when he gets the ball
i think garland was worse today. Really just seemed off. Hopefully just cobwebs

He was the main positive out of today. 9 contested possessions, showed he can take a mark and most importantly looks so comfortable at afl level on the ball or smashing someone is a tackle.
If he stays fit he will play 15 games plus.
Wont be long til he has the best handball in the team

Hi guys, looking for a league to join. Team name: not rebuilding
cheers

I assume it will allowed for dees supporters to bring banners saying
beat the cheats and drug cheats etc? I'll be getting the textas out! Once I think of something witty enough

Guide says it's on at 5 and 6pm on foxportsnews. Ch 500

theyll have a crack down for 6-7 rounds and then relax the interpretation and then at some unknown point later in the season will go hard again and wonder why players are confused
what a joke the AFL and umpires are. its the one thing i dont miss about footy - pulling my hair out at the inconsistent, rubbish umpiring. Umpires should have to have played the game for 5+ years in my opinion. its too fast and complex a game to read about in books
ill try to stop my rant there!

Any body who really believes that Pederson doesn't deserve to play CHF in the starting 22 is looking through blinkers so far ahead of Dawes is isn't funny and Frost is not a forward never will be.
are you referring to the Pedersen that over 3 seasons has played 36 games and kicked 25 goals? (I know some games were played in defence)
he doesnt get involved enough in games and is too slow to put any pressure on. having said that, he will be CHF for round one I'd say, given dawes is injured. but to say he is streets aheads of the other options is crazy. fact is we have no good 2nd fwd/ruck and we need to deal with what we have

so good to see a first game player getting in trouble for being too rough. can you imagine that happening to the draft class of 2009? [JT aside]
maybe change thread title from 'Oliver avoids ban' to 'Oliver gets BS fine'?
hate how the AFL comes out every year with issues they are "going to crack down on". how about you just enforce the rules that are there fairly and consistently?
Viney and Vandaberg are gonna be suspended every third game at this rate

couldn't love this bloke anymore without needing a restraining order
if he stays fit he will play 24+ great games and make AA or come very close.
NAB game shortened by 30+ minutes so it really was a 35+ posession game
he is absoluetly pivitol to our teams rise and will certainly be named in the leadership team next month - perhaps VC

what a joke. Oliver didnt pin his arms. the bloke went to kick the ball like an overhead kick type motion, so he was moving that way and off balance.
hope the senior players pay the fine for him. he would barely have gotten a pay cheque yet!

Tell that to Trengove.
And you could bet your arse Collingwood would get it scanned.
There's reasons we've been on the bottom for so long and poor injury management is one of them.and collingwood are the experts in managing injuries? Reid, Elliot, Daisy Thomas, freeman, etc
they usually have one of the longest injury lists and a lot of soft tissue injuries
our medical staff know what they are doing and if there was any risk, they would do what they need to. a knee injury is very different to a hot spot on a foot so they would be trated differently

yeah one game in 6 months is too much. best rest them up
and the quote "we now know we are going to be competative this year" are you for real? so you expect us to be good based on that one practice match?
just like when we beat geelong away last year and then lost to bombers and Blues.
Gee I hope the Dees do not have this soft, defeatist attitude. what if they injured? they could just as easily get injured in training - eg elliot, swallow, jones etc
we need to get this young team playing together at every possible chance, how many games has our best players under 21 played together?

Great win. Was very impressed that we didn't let port come back.
Thought harmes was good. Gave high hope for that kid
kennedy surprised me in a good way
viney had 28 and 16 contested in a short game. Equivalent of a 40 touch game
kent, van denburg, Salem Oliver etc make me excited!!

I'm not as relaxed as you and you know my reasons.
I point to other players who were chased by opposition clubs - apart from Cloke, there was no hesitation to go elsewhere.
Cripps - signs again
Sidebottom - ready to commit
Pavlich - has resisted huge offers from both Port and the Crows for many years
Many, many more I've missed....
Why can't Hogan (who has an ability to speak, I hope) come out and say he's going to sign, but not until after a season of footy behind him?
Why create knots in the underpants?
scully said as much the year he left. words mean nothing
Hogan cant predict the future so doesnt want to say something he might regret even if he is 99% sure. fair enough i reckon

I agree mate. reasonable.
one can only dream of 'good'

I might be on my own but I reckon footy is in a good state. I really enjoy watching it (despite being a Dees fan). Last year the race for the flag was quite open, 5-6 teams could have won it and I think it will be even more open this year. the race for the top 8 will go down to 13-14th position i reckon
areas for improvement sure.

The Butcher Cup.
Let's see if he can sneak one in for a point.
Port's team looks better on paper - more quality mature players, even without Dixon and Ryder.
-
will be great to Oliver, Wagner. also Hunt and Frost
3 players to be dropped from the squad by satdy: maybe M Jones, O Mac and ANB?
the team has a real young feel to it. not many over 24, in fact, not that many over 22 yo!
-
the headlines in the papers are a disgrace. NEVER before has a player with 2 year left on a contract had the headline: "talks put off til the end of season". that phrase always refers to a player having one season left on their contract. the casual observer (idiot) that doesnt read the article will look at that and say - oh Hogan is gone. just puts pressure on hogan and is negative publicity for the Dees. The media always kicks clubs when they are down (aside from the bombers). when we win a few they'll be the first to jump on the bandwagon saying we will make the top 4.
such lazy, biased journalism

No question, Hogan.
Could be the best player to ever play for Dees. Massive call obviously. He could actually destroy teams this year if we give him some service and lift the inside 50 count

Game Day 6/3/16
in Melbourne Demons
Posted
still not sure what to make of yesterday. Great to have won 2 practice games on the trot.
but the Dogs team was a VFL team, they werent just missing 'a few'. maybe 4 guys playing that will be in the 22 for round 1. do you think we would have competed if that was the case for us? we should have looked a class above. we should have lead comfortably all day.
So overall, despite winning, I am less confident going into round one than I was before this game. you just have to look at how the Pies and GWS are playing. they look organised, highly skilled.
And again - terrible start to the game! what are the odds of GWS being 3 goals+ up at 1/4 time round 1? I would put money on it.
it'll be very interesting to see how we go against a near full strength St kilda
