How the New Recruits are Tracking
I watched Hore in the match simulation last Friday. He was defending and seemed to me to be out of position, keeping the an eye on two or three forwards, not near any of them and looking a bit lost. However when the ball was kicked to his area he prevented his opponents getting a clean possession and killed off the forward thrust. Could develop into a pretty useful defender.

How the New Recruits are Tracking
Careful with the corny one liners Mazer. There are some humourless old codgers reading this.

I also beg to differ. I'm not one of them, but there will be some surely!!

Training - Monday 21st January, 2019
My wife wanted me to mow the lawn but I reported a slight pain in the lower left hand side of my right patella. At that point she adjusted my schedule for the day and I sat on the couch and watched the cricket. Good result all round.

Training - Friday 18th January, 2019
I watched them for a while. Spargo is noticeably stronger. His skills impressed me. Petracca out muscled Hibberd in one drill and took off with the ball. Clarry was with a smaller group probably the rehab group working on short kicking and fast ball movement. He was very comfortable. Melksham was walking around the boundary line with his shoes in his hand past Clarry who asked him " Are you ok ? " Melksham just shook his head. Looked a little downcast. He was walking with no apparent discomfort so I m not sure what was going on there. When the rain came there was a bit of fumbling but the ball must have been pretty greasy. Easy to forgive.

I'm going to my first session for the year. I'm not the greatest training reporter but I'll make some observations which might interest the Hoi polloi.

ANB: Lever building to something "scary"
Back in your box Mick Malthouse !!!!!

Farewell Jesse Hogan
It's a holistic approach to training at Freo. You have to be ready for any eventuality.

Laughing at the Pies.....
To paraphrase the words of that idiot, Mick Malthouse.......' Collingwood seem to regard this game as their grand final'.. and they still couldn't win it. If that fool thought for a millisecond before he trotted out that overused comment about the dees every Queens birthday, he would have realised that in actual Grand Finals ( that is in September) in 7 Grand Finals between Melbourne and Collingwood, The Dees have won six of them.

Complacency is Dees Biggest Hurdle
I reckon you're wrong Ethan. The Civil War one was ' the good ship Venus' ( If I'm not very much mistaken )

Tom Mitchell out for the season
No one wants to see this happen to any player. We had it with Lever. All of a sudden beating the Hawks has become just a bit easier.

Origins/meanings of Display Names?
I had just returned from a Qld holiday when I signed up to demonland and I thought Queensland ... pineapples... why not ' Pineapple dee ' ? Plus my wife thinks I'm a bit of a pineapple. And how does that old expression go ? "The answer is a pineapple "

Demons are the team to beat in 2019: Champion Data
Champion data may well assess the potential and the quality of the teams but one thing that never varies is the high quality of the Melbourne supporter. Take that to the bank.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
These scum bags have been poorly treated, plus their philanthropic pursuits have been cruelly curtailed for some years. Let's cut them some slack

2019 Fixture
I think we're misunderstanding the clever thought processes of the Nabobs in the AFL hierarchy. They see a chance to showcase Carlton, a great team in the making, no doubt. Put them in a high profile match against a team they could beat... they win and hey presto they're on their way to being great again. Mind you, if they get smashed by 15 goals, all of a sudden it doesn't look like such a great plan.

The No T$ No B$ Thread
I have a question on etiquette about which I feel someone here may be able to advise. Just for background, I was raised a good catholic. Mum told me ' Never tell a lie'. Dad told me ' Always speak well of people' All this makes it very difficult to talk about certain people. One thing they both insisted on was courtesy. Fair enough ! Last week when I was in the fruit shop, my access to the bananas was blocked by a woman of a certain age. I looked at her and said as politely as I could ' Excuse me, madam ' She turned on me and gave me this look as if to say ' Madam, you're calling me madam ???? !!!!! ' Then she stomped away in a huff. What the hell should I have said?? What do I say in future??
