  1. Yeah I tend to agree. The consensus is that outside of the top 25, there really isn't much at all. Melksham isn't much of a player, it is a bad deal. It is a bad deal even before taking WADA repercussions into account. I highly doubt that trade gets confirmed early in trade week.
  2. Given WADA repercussions are hanging over this trade a second round pick shouldn't be mentioned. There is some quality kids around that mark.
  3. 24 pages dedicated to a VFL level player. I think the pages are only going up now because there is speculation MFC are going to part with a second round pick for this spud.
  4. I'm not against up taking Melsham, just not for a second rounder. I have no idea what the club is prepared to give for him, but I think Essendon will ask for our second round pick. I wouldn't do that, there are some good kids in this draft around that point. If we could get Melksham for a 3rd round pick, sure, no harm in that. He is a big bodied kid, and he does have some upside.
  5. So long as we don't give away our second rounder for him, then no harm. I would hate to give away our second rounder only to miss out on Lovell. I think Essendon will ask for our second rounder, I just hope we aren't going to give it up for Melksham.
  6. On the AFL site it says we've put a 4 year deal in front of Melksham.
  7. Yeah I'd trade for him. I'd go as far as our second round selection. But I think Essendon would want more than that. Melksham can play, there is no doubt about that. But he is bland, that is why I wouldn't offer too much. I think a second rounder is nearly even overs. * But that isn't taking into account the WADA case coming up. So we'd need some guarantees off the AFL of compensation if this went pear shaped.
  8. Salem will be better than Wines. I wouldn't entertain trading Salem for anyone.
  9. It's not just culture. We overlooked too many footballers - and drafted too many athletes. West Coast taken a lot of the kids we SHOULD have, they are sitting near the top, we are sitting near the bottom. Their culture was arguably worse than ours. They just drafted competitive footballers, as they always have. Culture is just something this club sells it's supporters to get them off of their backs. It is an easy justification for mediocrity. They are hardly going to come and say that we drafted sub par football players with quality picks, and that is why we are an ordinary football club.
  10. Bird would be worth a look.Underrated player, only 26 (27 at the start of next year). He won't consolidate a position in Sydney's midfield next year.
  11. I agree with you that Petracca would be a great mentor. He has previous experience in more professional environments than AFL. But, In the case of Harley Bennell, I don't see a whole lot Christian Petracca can do for him. Lumumba on the other hand, he could offer quite a lot - same with Roos.
  12. This isn't the 90's and Brisbane aren't Fremantle. Sure, if we can get away with it. Aish is a footballers footballer.
  13. Bail and Matt Jones have to go. That would be a good start.
  14. I agree with most of that. I would hold off on a Toumpas trade though, we wouldn't get a lot for him. Unless we were offered a first rounder, I just don't see the value in trading Toumpas. Actually the same can nearly be said of Jack Watts. I think Watts is becoming underrated around here. He simply isn't that bad of a player IMO. Can he lift? Yes, and he needs to, but I wouldn't be off loading him for the sake of it.
  15. I don't think they'd tell him what he needs to do - to be better than Wines. But rather what he needs to do - to be the best player he can be. We have our own Ollie Wines in Angus Brayshaw. If Adelaide or Port wanted in on Toumpas for a late first rounder, I'd jump at it.
  16. Putting off negotiations till after brownlow medal night.
  17. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
  18. If he got Wines we wouldn't have Tyson, Salem, Brayshaw and a whole heap of first year players. Is Wines good? Absolutely. But.. Let's give these other kids time, stop crying over spilt milk. I don't even include Toumpas in the equation, I never have, I just see it as - things have panned out for us in other ways. Look at the bright side. Just like losing Scully, there is a bright side. Christian Salem will be twice the player Ollie Wines will be, that isn't to downplay Wines either. If we'd of landed Wines, who knows whether we'd of been in a position to land the messiah (Salem) and Tyson.
  19. Add Luke Parker to that. Overlooking the Vic Metro Captain in Parker when we were a club deficient of leaders. I think to me that was the big one. Rockliff is every clubs mistake - bar one, and Sloane wasn't the player that he is today. Luke Parker was a big miss for this club.
  20. If St Kilda do take Petracca with pick 1, it wouldn't be a bad idea if we taken McCartin with pick 2. We have Hogan coming through, to add McCartin to that would be massive. We will have developing mids in Viney, Tyson, Salem, Brayshaw - and arguably Toumpas. MFC would have 2 bustling forwards, not just any type of forwards - but old school, bustling, dominate fowards. So I don't think it is the end of the world if St Kilda do take Petracca, they'll only be shooting themselves in the foot. Membry isn't going to solve their problems, he is a small forward and probably even better suited to a midfield role. Over the trade period we have seen how valuable forwards can be - with the Bullies parting with their captain and high draft picks just to get one.
  21. If St Kilda grab Petracca, I think McCartin and Brayshaw are also no brainers. Just look how desperate the Bullies are to get their hands on a good forward. We'd then have a couple of 10 year forwards and our midfield is taking shape. I think we'll only trade our picks for the right deal - Shiel, Treloar, or a player of that calibre.
  22. It is interesting. I spoke to a mate about Petracca the other day, he was massive on CP. The same guy didn't buy into the Toumpas hype and thought Wines was a safer option - and a beast. I asked him what is the difference between Toumpas hype Vs Petracca hype. He just said as an overall athlete, CP is panels ahead of Toumpas, and that CP is dominant in more areas - just not quite as good of a kick. He seemed to know more about Petracca as a basketballer and mentioned that he is worth taking the risk, and that he was a special athlete. Whereas he never seen that in Toumpas, yet he went early. Anyway for what it is worth, I'm more sold on Brayshaw, but that is off very limited viewing this year - of both players. In saying that, if Petracca is that good, he'll go pick 1 anyway.
  23. Keep the pick and hope Petracca is there. If he isn't - then take Brayshaw. I think Brayshaw is a safe selection.
  24. Roos has already stated that we need class through the midfield. So I think we are very well placed. If Petracca lasts till pick 2, we take him... Otherwise we take Brayshaw. Personally, I'd take Brayshaw, he is a dual sided, contested ball and skillful player. But.. I understand the hype about Petracca, he has made massive inroads this year. Big bodied kid, explosive, athletic, loves a goal and appears to have that natural - freakish - talent. Happy with either these guys, would be a dream to land both. For what it is worth, I think St Kilda might take Wright.
  25. Actually Kelly was most effective early, he was busiest in the first 2 quarters.
