  1. Ahwell, his value has just gone through the roof.
  2. The thing with Brayshaw is that he can't play anywhere else bar midfield.
  3. It wasn't our finest moment.

Still a year or two away IMO. I don't understand why clubs take project players, but they do, and when they do these players need time.
  5. I agree. Also has been too inconsistent and hasn't played up to his potential. Capable type but needs to get his head right.
  6. I am still stoked we landed Fritsch. I thought at beginning of trade night, if we walked away with Fritsch I'd be happy, anything more is a bonus. I don't know much about the others. I have only seen Fritsch play a handful of times - but he looked impressive. I remember watching Mitch Hannan play most of his games the year we drafted him, and I was happy we landed him, he did it against men, and his frame wasn't a limitation. I don't expect Fritsch frame to limit him at all. I think he may play early. There is nothing about his game that suggests he has to put on size (at least in respect of contributing at AFL level - size will naturally come in time). So its a good get for mine. Hope he does well.
  7. Well said. I agree. Less pressure on them and less whinging from all of us. I am guilty of expecting too much too early off of draftees, and I think part of it comes from the mediocre performances off of our senior blokes. We are always looking for some youth to step in - because our seniors are letting us down. Since we have had Roos we have improved I believe. 5-6 years ago I'd be hoping Petty was the next big thing because we needed him to be. Now it feels as though it doesn't matter as much. We appear to have a ready made list now. There is no excuses for the guys in the side. Best MFC team I have seen in a long time. I do get ahead of myself but our side looks really promising. Hopefully Petty just develops at Casey and gets to learn his craft without expectation. We still have key position back in Keilty who will be ready before he is. That should ease the pressure.
  8. Size is no longer a disadvantage in this game. Because players can no longer are not supposed to dive on the ball, it means they have to bend down and pick it up (mostly that is what happens). Smaller players do not have to expose their neck, they are mostly already there at the ball. They don't have to bend down as much (so they should be able to get the ball quicker). They just have to watch out for the hip and shoulder - which is practically outlawed. I watch Caleb Daniel make a mockery of his opposition. And if you watch Daniel he basically scoops the ball up with absolute ease, his low centre of gravity means that he is also very evasive, and strong through the core. Small players have advantages if they know how to use them. If this kid can play he is a good pick up.
  9. Adelaide had a pick inside the top 10. Then neither Adelaide or Port had another pick before we selected Petty. I suspect that is why we were able to land him.
  10. They kind of had to go for a flag. Their best players are Gray, Boak and Ryder. Not only do they owe it to those guys to give them a shot at a flag, but there is no guarantee in the future that they will be this close to a flag.
  11. Geeez that is a good deal for Carlton. Gibbs has played 231 games. In all likelihood he only plays another 70 or 80, and that is if he gets a good run with injury. Smart trading by Carlton, they were patient, and they didn't rush into a bad deal. Good on them. They obviously have people in charge who know what they are doing.
  12. I would give 46 for Balic. It isn't ideal but in all likelihood Balic ends up a better player than the average player available at 46. I would use our pick 36 for Fritsch. I would also try and package our pick 28 up with Jack Watts for Geelongs pick 19.
  13. I reckon we will use 27 or 35 to take Fritsch. Based on what I have seen he is worth either of those picks. It will just be a matter of where we believed he will be picked, and are other sides interested in him. I suspect teams will be interested in him but not speaking to him - and will just take him. I wouldn't be against us using 27 on Fritsch, but believe its more likely he probably goes at 35
  14. Ha. great reply. Well done bud. Top notch!
  15. MFC speaks a good game but just can't negotiate. Lever did all the leg work, and put us in a strong position at the trade table. We just gave away a future first round pick we didn't need to. MFC once again pulling the trigger early. Amateurs.
  16. Instead of the Charlie Cameron pick we need to be asking Adelaide for their 2018 first round pick. They probably won't make top 4, and in fact could drop out of the top 6. It would be good if a club didn't bend us over at the trade table for once.
  17. You want to throw Dustbin under the bus? You not satisfied with the previous hatchet job the media did on the poor kid? Anyway, it wasn't Martin. Judging by the responses on big footy to the latest incident the player wasn't a star player (even though he has been referred to as one in the media).
  18. I didn't see any tattoos on her - just a premiership medal.
  19. If they want our 2017 & 18 first round picks, fine. But we want their 2018 first round pick included in the Lever deal. Out: 2017 FIRST & SECOND PICK, 2018 FIRST ROUND PICK. In: LEVER & ADELAIDE 2018 FIRST ROUND PICK.
  20. Different players. Kennedy may have made it had we not had Viney and Oliver come on as well as they have. Early last year Kennedy was actually up to AFL level, and was playing good football. Balic is a different player to Kennedy. Balic has more tools, and has a frame more suited to AFL football (IMO). He will need to hone his strengths though, because he isn't going to find the ball as much as someone like Kennedy, so when Balic does get the ball he is going to need to do something with it. I wanted us to draft Balic the year Freo took him. I thought they got a steal, so I'd be happy to land him.
  21. I think he will be a starter. He has a bit more class than many on the fringe. He was a good ball user as a junior. We need good ball users. I actually think Balic will be a steal. He is very capable. He has class and moves well. Providing he completes a pre-season I expect he will play over 15 games next year.
  22. Balic can play. He will be a starter.
  23. If players are disgruntled then good. I hope they are. I hope our precious players are made to feel really uncomfortable. They are going to have to start getting uncomfortable if they want to win a flag. They are going to have to fight for everything they have. I like that. I am no Goodwin fan, but if he is starting to p*ss off our playing list then he has my full support.
  24. I have always liked: IN - Jake Lever AND Adelaide 2018 first round pick. OUT: Melbourne 2017 first AND second round pick, and 2018 first round pick. I have seen this mentioned before, and on big footy a month or so back. I read something in draft and trading the other day about proposing this to Adelaide if they wanted to get nasty. That way both clubs could put up their 2018 first round pick and bet on having a good year. This is the trade I would make in a heart beat. It would say to Adelaide "Look, if you don't like our 2017 first and second round pick, then we will exchange your 2018 first round picks". It is a big FU to a club that thinks they are being hard nosed. It is saying to them "right, if you think you are all that then put your money where your mouth is". We may be able to bluff them into giving up Lever, and their 2018 first round pick. Considering we didn't even make the finals this year, and Adelaide made the top 4 - they SHOULD back themselves in with that deal. Hopefully if made they dropped out of the 8 in 2018 and we made the top 4 (which we will).
  25. I think most clubs in the league would give up 2 top 5 selections for Oliver.
