Delistings/trades at end of the season
This isn't the 90's and Brisbane aren't Fremantle. Sure, if we can get away with it. Aish is a footballers footballer.

Bail and Matt Jones have to go. That would be a good start.

The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan
Agree. Hogan had exposed form in the VFL (best league below the AFL). Tom Boyd had only reasonable form in the NEAFL - a sub par, second tier football league. I don't know what the Bulldogs were thinking. So far, Boyd has performed to my expectations of him. On performance, he isn't the player that he is hyped to be. Hogan on the other hand was marking everything that came to him in Casey, and won the B&F as a kid.

I agree with most of that. I would hold off on a Toumpas trade though, we wouldn't get a lot for him. Unless we were offered a first rounder, I just don't see the value in trading Toumpas. Actually the same can nearly be said of Jack Watts. I think Watts is becoming underrated around here. He simply isn't that bad of a player IMO. Can he lift? Yes, and he needs to, but I wouldn't be off loading him for the sake of it.

Tom McDonald?
He is having an AA type of year. Taken down some AA forwards. But I will admit to being 'over Tom McDonald' many of times in the past few years. Just one of those players that can do amazing things, then ruin it by not spotting up a simple target. Credit to him, he has improved his weaknesses, and is now getting his due. Without a doubt the in form backman in the league. Dunn last year, McDonald this year. I think we got rid of the right bloke in Frawley, and it's good to see other back man step up

The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan
Freo will NEED Jesse, they'll have cap space once Pav, Sandilands, McPharlane, Mundy, Crowley and Johnson retire. But they will be also a less appealing proposition for young Jesse. Without those experienced players, Fremantle will not be the side they are today. Those players I mentioned are ALL key position players. So while they might have Fyfe, Hill, Neale, they will not have the dominate KP players they have today. They will need Jesse, they will have money, but they won't be in a better position going forward than the MFC - who will also have money. This is an easy decision for Hogan, he isn't silly. Jesse Hogan is the very least of our worries. I worry more about getting Trengove and Petracca healthy, because those 2 players healthy - are like bonus top 5 picks.

Aaron vandenBerg
Rightfully so, he cost me my 40 plus bet.

Aaron vandenBerg
I just don't see many flaws in his game. He does everything well - and consistently well. Finds the pill, tackles (think he had 12-13 tonight), plays smart. Granted he did have a brain fade late in the game, but I thought he was top 3 tonight. What a find. Adding Vandenberg and Brayshaw to the side - and to a lesser extent Newton - has been massive for us.

I don't think they'd tell him what he needs to do - to be better than Wines. But rather what he needs to do - to be the best player he can be. We have our own Ollie Wines in Angus Brayshaw. If Adelaide or Port wanted in on Toumpas for a late first rounder, I'd jump at it.

Putting off negotiations till after brownlow medal night.

He just looks professional - in the same way Buckley looked professional. When Vandenberg has the ball I know he won't waste it. The fact that he pushes forward, loves a goal, and is an accurate shot of goal - makes him a very dangerous player. This guy is exactly what our side needs, a big bodied, goal kicking midfielder, can find the pill, play a variety of roles - due to height/strength/balance/hardness and smarts.

If he got Wines we wouldn't have Tyson, Salem, Brayshaw and a whole heap of first year players. Is Wines good? Absolutely. But.. Let's give these other kids time, stop crying over spilt milk. I don't even include Toumpas in the equation, I never have, I just see it as - things have panned out for us in other ways. Look at the bright side. Just like losing Scully, there is a bright side. Christian Salem will be twice the player Ollie Wines will be, that isn't to downplay Wines either. If we'd of landed Wines, who knows whether we'd of been in a position to land the messiah (Salem) and Tyson.

Add Luke Parker to that. Overlooking the Vic Metro Captain in Parker when we were a club deficient of leaders. I think to me that was the big one. Rockliff is every clubs mistake - bar one, and Sloane wasn't the player that he is today. Luke Parker was a big miss for this club.

The 2014 AFL National Draft
If St Kilda do take Petracca with pick 1, it wouldn't be a bad idea if we taken McCartin with pick 2. We have Hogan coming through, to add McCartin to that would be massive. We will have developing mids in Viney, Tyson, Salem, Brayshaw - and arguably Toumpas. MFC would have 2 bustling forwards, not just any type of forwards - but old school, bustling, dominate fowards. So I don't think it is the end of the world if St Kilda do take Petracca, they'll only be shooting themselves in the foot. Membry isn't going to solve their problems, he is a small forward and probably even better suited to a midfield role. Over the trade period we have seen how valuable forwards can be - with the Bullies parting with their captain and high draft picks just to get one.
-
Dayne Beams
Those who had Beams in their supercoach sides and watched him closely - will be happy to see this trade happen. Footballers footballer. Goal kicking midfielder, gets his ball on the inside and out. I thought he was Collingwoods best this year. Exceptional player and extremely unlikely pick 3 would become half the player Beams is.
-
Dayne Beams
Yeah, I get that, doesn't hurt to offer. Beams is exactly the type of player we need running through the midfield.
-
Dayne Beams
3 and 12 would get it done for Beams.

The 2014 AFL National Draft
If St Kilda grab Petracca, I think McCartin and Brayshaw are also no brainers. Just look how desperate the Bullies are to get their hands on a good forward. We'd then have a couple of 10 year forwards and our midfield is taking shape. I think we'll only trade our picks for the right deal - Shiel, Treloar, or a player of that calibre.

Melbourne considering shifting its base to MCG
This would be awesome. We are Melbourne, the whole lot of it. I love this sh*t. The AFL can try minimise MFC, but we are making some nice inroads with these ideas. We are really lucky to have PJ, Barlett and Roos, they all play their roles so well, going about their business.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
It is interesting. I spoke to a mate about Petracca the other day, he was massive on CP. The same guy didn't buy into the Toumpas hype and thought Wines was a safer option - and a beast. I asked him what is the difference between Toumpas hype Vs Petracca hype. He just said as an overall athlete, CP is panels ahead of Toumpas, and that CP is dominant in more areas - just not quite as good of a kick. He seemed to know more about Petracca as a basketballer and mentioned that he is worth taking the risk, and that he was a special athlete. Whereas he never seen that in Toumpas, yet he went early. Anyway for what it is worth, I'm more sold on Brayshaw, but that is off very limited viewing this year - of both players. In saying that, if Petracca is that good, he'll go pick 1 anyway.
