  1. The club Roos took over is significantly different to the club Beveridge took over. It's not even a fair comparison. What Beveridge took over is akin to what Goodwin is inheriting right now. A mid-tier team outside the 8 with moments of despair and horrific inconsistency. A coach can change a club but they still need the cattle. Luke Beveridge walking into Melbourne as senior coach at the end of 2013 does not win Melbourne a premiership in 2015.
  2. How [censored] refreshing was that? Pretty bloody nice when it isn't Hawthorn, or a club who has everything handed to them on a silver platter. A win for the battlers and there needs to be more of this in years to come if the AFL actually wants to grow, rather than remain stagnant with the same big clubs winning every [censored] year. Maybe the AFL will perk up and actually realise that ALL teams getting to experience success rather than just the rich clubs is actually the best thing for the comp. Nobody wants to see an endless stream of rich clubs buying themselves a premiership every year. This is a win for the blue-collar clubs of the league who don't have a silver spoon in their mouth.
  3. Bernie came bloody close in the Longest Kick. Nearly 70m but Gibbs kicked 73. He was a bit dusty, seems Tex and Bern hit the town! :D
  4. Gil the Dill just insinuated we'll be playing the Bombers in Round 1 2017, in the first Friday night game. FMD.
  5. I tuned in at 10:30 and they were only on ROUND 16! I turned off and went to bed. Channel 7 are such amateurs.
  6. Sadly apparently the Bombers are a long way down the path with him.
  7. I noted last night that they made plenty of disposal mistakes throughout the game, but they always had a teammate or two nearby to mop up (and the other teammate would then shepherd out opposition players from laying tackles). I haven't seen our players play for each other and cover teammate's mistakes so ferociously in ... ever? I do see Hogan cracking the shits a lot when he doesn't get handed the ball on a silver platter though (as evidenced by his idiotic abuse of Kent for not kicking an impossible 70m bomb to him from the wing -- pull your head in Hoges). It's all about attitude sometimes.
  8. Very, very disappointing way to end the season. Feel bad for the players actually contributing.
  9. You're right. Pretty pathetic of this unexciting mob of youngsters who've made the VFL Grand Final and have the lead at half time, against the seconds team of this year's Grand Finalists.
  10. The dogs have the largest differential of free kicks for in the league, don't they?
  11. I think it's cheap of the clubs who have copied it, but what can you do? We don't own the song.
  12. Something I'm noticing watching the replay, the Dogs disposal actually isn't that great. Players generally renowned for being good kicks being pretty average, but the key here is players who just mop up the mess and get on with it. They really do play like a team who look after each other, despite the mistakes. They take risks regardless of whether or not they pay off, because they know their teammates are looking out for them. And most important of all, you never see teammates hurling abuse or showing poor body language to each other. They get on with the job. Once again, lessons our team could learn from.
  13. Healy needs a new suit, or at least needs to unbutton one of the two buttons (who wears a suit with two buttons done up??)
  14. There's something immensely dislikeable about Tom Boyd. Can't even put my finger on it.
  15. Just look at their recent drafting; they haven't needed early picks to end up where they are now. Have absolutely killed it with their late picks in the draft. Jayden Hunt-esque diamonds in the rough.
  16. Nice to hear Cameron name drop us as one of the exciting young teams moving up the ranks, in response to questions about how GWS will fare next year. A pretty level-headed coach IMO.
  17. And Jeremy Cameron was showed up big-time. Just delightful seeing teams that expect everything on a silver platter getting a rude awakening by a blue collar team (like I hope we develop into). Steve Johnson must feel like crap right now too. His own team and his former team knocked out in the same week, just wonderful stuff. Especially when you consider the difference he probably would've made tonight, almost certainly 1 or 2 goals the difference.
  18. Yep, was on the treadmill watching their tactics in the first quarter and my blood was boiling. Clearly going out of their way to take Dogs players out of the game. Great to see it fail in the long run.
  19. He's the king of cheap balls out the back and idiotic kicks to no one down the corridor. I don't know why the media fawn over him.
  20. The Dogs are just epitomised by one united attitude: they never, ever give up. Our team needs to learn a thing or two from the attitude of their players, instead of picking and choosing when to turn up. No other team's supporters would feel as proud as Dogs supporters right now.
  21. Hope you feel like crap right now, $cully.
