Same old story. Dominating almost every stat except goal accuracy. It's maddening how soft this team is in front of goal under pressure. Need to clean this [censored] up if the team ever wants to taste success at the highest level. Blowing yet another golden opportunity today and it's entirely our fault. Get your [censored] together Melbourne.

Saw this post on BF, puts Norf's "amazing" season into some perspective:
-
Doggies win! Dees supporters know better than anyone how infuriating it is when a team with nothing to play for (the Dogs today, the Pies last year) decide to show up and bust their asses off, just to spoil your party. Nice to see another team suffer such indignity for a change!
-
If you're going to troll, at least come up with something half intelligent. Adelaide were never in contention for finals; they're stuck on 10 wins like the Bombers with a terrible percentage. It's increasingly clear 13 wins + good percentage is the qualifier for finals this year, so any team with under 10 wins stealing points off teams above them is a win. Completely different story for Port who have the exact same wins as us and would've leapfrogged us if they'd beaten the Eagles today. It's really not hard to see the difference and how we benefit from Port losing.

[censored] hopeless Crows.
-
Noticed quite a few posts questioning the female umpire. Does she support the Pies? Seems she's giving away quite a few questionable free kicks tonight in their favour.
-
Both matches tonight going against us now. Bugger. Adelaide were already well out of contention so it would've been nice to see them upset the Giants. Their depth is ridiculous sadly, thanks to the ridiculous draft concessions the AFL handed them on a silver platter. Excuseable defeat for Brisbane given their youth but they really should've gotten the win last week against North. Heartbreaking final minute that was.
-
Of course. I'm also someone who thought we couldn't possibly bugger up a victory against Geelong if in front by 30 points in the final quarter... Back to tonight's matches, Collingwood now up by over 2 goals. Brisbane sadly falling away. Make that 3 goals, bugger!
-
Nice edit, considering your original post completely ignored the Giants. Once again, you're just assuming we win all 3 final games. I'll be as happy as anyone to see that happen but I'm also a realist. We dropped a game to the Saints barely a month ago. We haven't beaten anyone in the 8 all season. I'm all for being optimistic but the odds of us winning every match from here are unlikely, all things considered. How many fresh reminders do you need that this club finds seemingly impossible ways to crush their fans every year? My only focus is on finals. If we make the top 4 I'll be elated but I'd rather see results that cement our place in the 8 and finally break our finals drought once and for all. Whinging about the decreasing odds of making top 2, when our place in the 8 is so precarious, is shortsighted. Melbourne supporters of all people should know better.
-
I never said we can't beat any of the next 3 matches, I said it's laughable to expect wins against all 3 and the Eagles to choke against the Lions. Nice work completely misconstruing my entire point. Only person who seems to be playing with themselves is you, considering how high on your own opinion you are. We'll see how chirpy you are if we lose tomorrow to those "average" Swans. Or to the Eagles, who are "suffering" so badly without those key players that they've won every game without them. ?
-
Clueless? How about 'realists'? Hell of a lot more concerned about results going our way to ensure we make the top 8, rather than some farfetched wet dream of finishing top 2, which assumes such laughable outcomes as us winning all 3 final matches (after not beating a single team in the top 8 all season) and West Coast (2nd on the ladder) losing to Brisbane. The dream of top 2 was [censored] down the drain when we blew 3 winnable games by under a goal. Our focus should be on finals and that means results which hurt all the teams beneath us.
-
Exactly this, thank you. People are being delusional if they don't think 1st and 2nd are locked in at this point. [censored] top 4 aspirations; our season is still on a knife's edge until we get to 13 wins. That's my only consideration right now and I think people are getting way ahead of themselves worrying about top 2. Less teams in contention for the top 8 is a fantastic outcome when there's 11 still in the hunt with 2.5 rounds to go.
-
That was great result for us! Don't know how anyone could think otherwise. If Brisbane win tonight, it locks one of Port or Collingwood onto 12 wins until the final round of the year. It's great for our finals chances, so long as we win against Sydney. Stop dreaming about finishing 2nd. West Coast were way too far ahead as it is and they have less to play for next week. Win win.
-
Unbelievable finish!!!! Utterly stunning choke from Port! ? Can't wait for all the rule changes to fix the game! ?
-
MCGOVERN!!!!!! WIN AFTER THE SIREN!!!!!

It's pathetic, indicative of the gutter-level media in this country. Happy to turn a blind eye to an entire team filled with drug cheats because it's just so "romantic" to celebrate the idea of them making finals. Get me a vomit bag. The funniest part is Essendon haven't a chance in hell of making finals (which will be obvious at the end of this round), so all these brain-dead commentators morons are doing is exposing themselves for the fools they are, at the expense of appeasing one team's supporters. In any event, let's all just remember how well finals worked out for Essendon last year, with that corrupt soft draw they were handed for artificially finishing last due to drug convictions. I note the exact same thing has happened to North Melbourne this year, although in fairness they didn't finish dead last due to WADA sanctions. They're just destined to play finals because of convenient double matches against rubbish teams (accounting for 10 of their wins).

Gaff's lawyer wanted as low as 3. AFL wanted as high as 12. They usually split the difference with these things. 8 is a fair whack and feels right to me. Deservedly two weeks worse than Bugg. And yeah, that reflects [censored] awfully on Simpson if Gaff told him he didn't want to be on the ground and it was ignored. What the actual [censored], do the Eagles not have any ethics? Pathetic, especially considering the margin was so heavily in their favour. Shithouse people management from a coach.
-
I think it's disgraceful Simpson even allowed him back on the ground. Not even just for the unfairness of the situation (Fremantle being a player down) but for the personal safety of Gaff thereafter. Not to mention his mental health! Any responsible coach would've pulled the pin as soon as he saw Gaff in tears, despondent on the bench. Just my opinion of course.
-
Wait, so Brayshaw and Gaff never played golf and Nisbett made the whole thing up? Story gets more bizarre all the time. And that comment from 'Ralphy' is absolute tripe. The media don't "get their shot and move on." Would've been an absolute circus with media speeding down the freeway tailgating Gaff's getaway car, filming him from their windows, filming him checking into his hotel, filming him through his hotel window, filming him leaving his hotel, filming him arriving at the Tribunal, filming him leaving the Tribunal, film him returning to his hotel... and on and on and on and on and on and... His outrage that police and security are more concerned about protecting the thousands of passengers at the airport to, you know, catch a flight safely, rather than help a bunch of gutter-level vultures swamp a football player in the terminal, sums up the character of Australian "journalism."
-
Is it a little strange he's flown to Melbourne for the hearing when they could've held it in Perth via video conference or with local Tribunal judges? Wonder if he's planning to visit some of the Brayshaw family to apologise in person.
-
Breaking News from Mark Stevens: Federal Police spotted at airport! Absolute peanut.
-
Gutter journalist with zero ethics. Save your sympathy for those who deserve it.
-
Geez North find a way to look pathetic and desperate even when they're likely to play finals.
-
Not if he goes to another Victorian club.
-
It knocked about $200k off his asking price, I'll tell you that much. Gotta wonder if he'll stick with West Coast now.
