The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan
We're at least another two drafts of mediocre/lower-tier finishes on the ladder away from building a young midfield that can challenge within 4 or 5 years. Depends how well we nail the next two recruitment periods while Roos still has his foot in the door. It only took the Dogs about 3 years of nailed draft picks to be where they are now. Not a single wasted pick.

After the Boyd deal you'd think a long-term, high 6 figure sum could comfortably be on the table from the club. He could end up our highest paid player within a few years. Though I can just as easily see Hogan's management agreeing to a 3 year extension which will take him through to free agency (assuming the AFLPA get their way and reduce the minimum years of service to 6/7 years.) Does Hogan's first year in the VFL count as one year towards his FA eligibility? If not, his current contract commitment takes him to 4 years.

Didn't see him spray Cross, that's fascinating. Sounds like a competitive beast (like Hogan, Frost, etc.) Loving the mongrel Roos/Taylor has injected into us, exactly as a team dubbed the DEMONS should have! Other teams should dread playing us, knowing they'll end up bruised, battered and bleeding after two hours on the field with us.

Can't be AB, that's reserved for one other very special debutante this Saturday!

The misery Demons fans wallow in is well-founded given the last 8 years of results, but far out... it's time to move on! Do you see every other club that passed on Wines wallowing in their own pity every time this kid takes another step forward? Be happy for a great young man making his mark on the game. Port have experienced a rags to riches story we all hope Melbourne can replicate, but the longer we dwell on the past the harder it is to look forward to a bright future. Lamenting the past achieves nothing. You can't do anything about it, so be proactive about what you can control, what you can change. I'm yet to see a single trade or draftee since Roos came onboard that hasn't been a raging success.

My shrink once told me to stop worrying about mistakes made in the past, because there is nothing you can do to change it. That even if you had made different choices in the past, there's no way of knowing what potentially worse events may have occurred in its place. Moral of the story? GET. OVER. IT.

The Pies are desperately trying to keep him. But their actions are obviously quite harmful, and there's no way he'll sty.

Beams, Brayshaw, Stretch, Lamumba, Frost, Garlett.... and trading out a couple of the "scarred" players (I trust in whoever Roos has identified) for high picks/established mids... feeling pretty good about the trade period now. And steady improvement next year could see us land Danger as a free agent for zilch.

And that became abundantly clear over the last month.

We're taking Brayshaw if we have any picks inside the top 3 at the draft.

No chance. The last thing GWS want now is draft picks; they want senior players.

What exactly would be the Lions plan next year to trade him in? They'll have picks with worse currency and will still refuse to trade any players to Collingwood for him. He won't make it through the PSD to them, and if he does, Collingwood are giving him up for nothing?

There's a rather delicious irony if the priori...Frawley compo pick secures us Beams and [censored] over Swann, especially after his little tanty the other week.

Makes me really, really nervous that we'd consider this so soon after the Clark disaster. I think we all wish we'd never intercepted that trade with Freo. Nice to see Neeld's legacy come full circle as a complete and utter disaster in every single way.

Agreed 100%. I'd love to have him here, and he'd know Dawes & Lamumba. Collingwood would agree to picks 3 and 12 as well, I'd reckon. But he seems pretty keen on going to Queensland... just have a bad feeling about intercepting that desire after the entire Clark debacle... it'll take a while to get over that one.

Except he'd practically be training next door to the Magpies and wants to go to play with his brother.

Collingwood would demand picks 2 and 3. They're hopeless. I still can't believe how they're already discussing what they'll trade pick 23 for on BF forums. Um, news flash, the reason the deal hasn't happened yet is because we ain't giving you our second rounder. Otherwise the deal would be done by now.

Or choosing Geelong because his Mrs got into a course down there. After we paid for her course in Melbourne.

Gee whiz, Buckley must be pretty bad.

Melbourne considering shifting its base to MCG
Imagine that.. our so called "home" ground actually being our home ground.

Have to say GWS have an... interesting recruitment strategy. Just endlessly taking the top draft picks every year by constantly trading themselves into the high end of the draft by tossing out players like Dom Tyson. Not sure it'll take them up the ladder very fast, but they've become a treasure trove of talent if you have the picks to trade them.
