Even if Essendon losing was a bad result for us, it's hard not to smile knowing how miserable their supporters must be feeling right now. Another year of failure for Brendon Floggard. Watching those drug cheats enjoy finals last year (well, for 2 minutes before the bloodbath against Sydney) off the back of a compromised fixture (for artificially finishing 18th in 2016) while we missed out was insufferable and maddening. Even if we miss this year, I'll take solace from the fact the [censored] drug cheats missed too.

Both have positives and negatives. It's pretty much impossible to gauge what result is better because we can't know how the next 3 rounds will go. For all we know, Brisbane blowing that win was the win that gets Norf to 14 wins and nullifies our superior percentage in the final round. I don't really want to play the Swans next week coming off 3 losses. If they win today it releases the pressure valve on them and lowers their stakes for the match against us. Would also be a sign that Collingwood's injury list is starting to take its toll.
-
Agreed, they were never going to get to 13 wins with their run home. We needed them to pinch 4 points off Hawthorn and give us breathing space. Hawks could easily get to 14 wins now.
-
I really hope this doesn't turn into a repeat of the weekend where every single result went against us. Fortunately Geelong lost so at least that's a plus, but wins by Hawthorn, North Melbourne, Port and Collingwood do us no favours. Here's hoping there's some upsets yet to come... And not against us!
-
FFS Brisbane, 1 7 clubs are rooting for you today. Bring it home!
-
Where's your "Holy Trinity" now, you [censored] flogs Geelong?!
-
Richmond showing our players how it's done in the last quarter. Hope every bloody player and coach is watching, because they could learn a thing or two from the Tigers.
-
Please shut the [censored] up, Bruce. Kindly, EVERYONE
-
Meaningless, alongside our inside 50 count in most games, because these don't convert into winning scores.
-
Purely because I'm still wallowing in my own misery, the only amusement I can find from the situation is that GWS winning bumped Geelong down to 9th, despite what happened last night. And... that's about it. I think we have to accept GWS are likely to win almost every game from here with their buttery-soft run home. I'm not sure about Port's run home but I think they're pretenders and could easily fall out of the 8. It could very well be us vs them vying for that final spot.
-
Fancy that, a team leading by 20 odd points to start the last quarter holding onto that lead and winning the game. Guess it's not rocket science for some coaches about what moves to make in such a scenario. Hopefully the geniuses in our coaching department are paying attention, even the players.
-
But that's the thing mate. It's so much more than a game to say many of us.
-
We won't be in the top 8 at the end of round 23. You can quote this for the rest of the year for all I care, but we're missing finals.
-
Mate, I'd love to believe this. I really would. But I just can't do it to myself after what happened last year. Getting my hopes up only to experience gutwrenching disappointment is infused in the MFC's DNA. I'm just about done enabling it. My health is literally suffering as a result. It's a fine line between being obsessed about loving your club and having your life revolve around it to the point of misery. I had to walk out of a party and sit in isolation tonight after Geelong kicked 5 in a row to start that final quarter because I knew exactly what was coming. Why should I put myself through such embarrassing anxiety? And of all the [censored] teams, Geelong. Only Essendon would be worse to lose to, honestly.
-
Says the guy who refuses to elaborate but is happy to disregard others posts from disappointed posters pointing out blatant flaws with the club. Must be nice to be an apologist for a club that strives for little more than perpetual disappointment.
-
What's this even mean mate? More like we're realists who aren't falling into the same trap as last year where we get our hopes up and have them bitterly crushed, pulped and minced in the final round of the season. And yet, for all the fanfare, we're heading for the exact same [censored] conclusion this year. I don't blame supporters for being proactive and refusing to put themselves through the same [censored] masochism two years running. And rest assured, I'm calling it now, it WILL happen again this year. We've done it again.
-
Nah mate, reality. Sorry to say it. We ain't making finals and once again it's entirely our fault. How can anyone defend 4 losses under ten points? 3 losses that were 3 points or less, one of which was against St Kilda?
-
That was it. [censored] forget finals. We're not in finals this year, so start booking your September holidays. Not dumb enough to get my hopes up like last year because we're so predictably shithouse in our ability to totally blow up fan expectations when all signs point towards success. [censored] this club and [censored] Goodwin. 4 losses under ten points. 3 losses under a goal. That's NOT acceptable and that is on Goodwin's head. Enough of the apologetic [censored], this is entirely on the club. [censored] them.
-
No. I'm sick of this apologetic [censored]. If you lose the game, you didn't play a good game. We've lost 4 games under ten points. This is a consistent flaw and they don't deserve any credit.
-
Just get [censored] Melbourne. Seriously. Bunch of [censored] peehearts. Can't defend a [censored] lead for 40 [censored] SECONDS. Even after the memory of what happened in round one. [censored] this club. Doesn't deserve finals. Doesn't deserve any success. [censored] off.
-
WHAT THE [censored] ARE YOU DOING COACHES?!? FMD THIS CLUB IS [censored] HOPELESS. CHANGE YOUR STRATEGY
-
[censored] hopeless. [censored] me dead. Only Melbourne.
-
Going to be hilarious seeing them back in the bottom 4 next year without the easy draw.
-
Geez next week's fixture is infuriating. Every team in the top 10 can bank a win, either playing another team in the top 10 or playing rubbish teams like GC, STK, WB or Carlton. We can't afford consecutive losses in the next two weeks, simple as that. We'll be out of the 8 in short order.
-
Well that round couldn't have gone much better, barring an Essendon and Giants loss. Woo!
