  1. Hahaha, that clip is hilarious! Loving the little undercurrent of a Brayshaw/Petracca (b)romance. Shows we're building a strong culture and the boys are a tight unit. Love it!
  2. https://thewest.com.au/news/australia/rid-amateur-footy-of-thugs-nisbett-ng-ya-120561 Anything else sound familiar in this article? Seems like a pretty clear zero-tolerance policy from Mr. Nisbett; let's see how true to his word he is. Judging by Simpson's laughable post-match comments tonight, the Eagles are content with being a bunch of blatant hypocrites.
  3. The severe bruising and swelling around the entire jaw (not just the point of impact) is a pretty good indication of how impactful the punch was. Just awful stuff, kid will be on the top-echelon painkillers for days.
  4. I'm not imagining things by saying Andrew's bottom lip has been ripped in half, right? Just to go along with the broken jaw and 4 caved-in teeth. What a [censored] nightmare. Poor kid won't be eating solids for weeks. As if the split lip isn't bad enough, if his teeth have dislodged from the nerves they might not be able to re-plant them. That means extraction and four tooth implants; anyone's who had so much as one extraction will know the nightmare he's in for...
  5. Carlton doctor would request the death penalty! Guillotine still available?
  6. Ridiculous, especially considering Andrew's the best looking of the bunch!
  7. A few comments from West Coast CEO Trevor Nisbett... Disclaimer: comments were made months ago, before the Gaff incident. Just always worth highlighting the blatant hypocrisy of some of these richer clubs.
  8. Lyon said he probably won't play again this year, too.
  9. Hardly. Despite your gross oversimplification of the conversation, the point has merely been raised that committing the same offense outside the boundaries of an AFL ground would result in criminal charges. So where do we draw the line? It's a perfectly valid discussion point when discussing these matters. If the AFL are serious about stamping out this violence in the game, they would completely overhaul the pathetic excuse of an MRO/MRP/Tribunal as it stands.
  10. Throughout history, lots of good people have made terrible mistakes. That doesn't stop them from being good people of good character but it also doesn't mean they shouldn't face the consequences for their actions. I have no interest in attacking Gaff's character, as this was clearly out of character for him. Nonetheless, the action deserves punishment and he must face these consequences. There is no "good guy" defense, although the AFL have form trying to prove otherwise.
  11. He won't play again in 2018 IMO. 6 weeks minimum. The only remote chance he has is West Coast finishing top 4 but losing their first final then winning every final thereafter. That would make his first eligible return game the Grand Final, but would any club risk a player in the GF without proper conditioning? 7 weeks on the sidelines including the bye... Short answer? No. He's played his last game for the Eagles and he knows it. Terrible way to go out.
  12. Agreed, this is one incident the AFL (thankfully) cannot just sweep under the rug. Unlike all the other dirty laundry over the years...
  13. It's "in play" to king-hit someone in the jaw and cave in 4 of their teeth because they're "blocking you from running"? Must have missed that in the rulebook. Yeah, clearly he's just faking it. Why the [censored] would a coach be upset that one of his players had their face caved in by an intentional punch to the jaw 100m off the ball, right after seeing the kid's distraught mother on the way to hospital? Fair's fair though. No doubt you'll be the first one to criticize Simon Goodwin if he shows an ounce of emotion if such an incident ever occurs to one of his players, yeah?
  14. Yeah but I'd be seeing Hamish first, considering he's probably at the ground with family!
  15. West Coast had an insurmountable lead after half-time. If I was in Gaff's position, I would've sat out the rest of the match and gone straight to Hamish in the stands to apologise.
  16. I've been watching a lot of Frontline recently on YouTube. Certainly highlights the outright hypocrisy prevalent in the media; you hit the nail on the head. WA papers will rally behind him in solidarity, because he's a star player. No different to the way the "stars" like Selwood, Dangerfield and Franklin always get generous treatment from umpires and tribunals.
  17. Gotta wonder at what point acts like this, in the modern age, verge into the realm of assault territory? Brayshaw would be fully in his rights to press charges here. Off the ball, unprovoked, unable to defend himself, broken jaw and missing teeth. The fact it happened on a footy field shouldn't provide immunity for the perpetrator of the act. Commit the same act on the street and you're hauled before a magistrate with criminal charges. Seems the AFL is a low unto themselves.
  18. I actually felt repulsed just watching that goal, as the entire crowd burst into cheers for Gaff. Like, what the actual [censored]? He just knocked out a poor kid's teeth off the ball, in their first season no less. Not to mention he's teammates with his brother, and probably future teammates with his older brother. MFC supporters DID NOT behave like that for Bugg after the Mills incident. Classless.
  19. Why did you have to pick Angus' brother, Andrew? WHY?!!?
  20. Gaff obviously thinking of us there. Just trying to make our match against West Coast a little easier, and giving himself a longer off-season to get himself cherry ripe for us Round 1 2019.
  21. Probably! Just going off what I saw in the final minutes. Clearly we've been very good the rest of the time which is great.
  22. I know it's ridiculous to complain when you're up by 6 4 points at half time, but I only watched the last 3 minutes of that quarter and we looked sloppy AF! Why the hell our players keep handballing in circles when directly in front of goal and under pressure, I'll never understand. Petracca could've had a shot at goal but handballed to a Sun's player and the ball ended up right down the other end. Then Vanders had that terrible miss under no pressure running into the 50. Once again, the Suns get an easy transition straight down the other end with an open player in their 50 and, naturally, they score a goal after the siren. This is the lazy stuff we desperately need to clean up if we want to beat the quality teams in the next month and stand any chance of winning finals. Anyway, Go Dee's!
  23. I'll admit, all this talk about where we find our 13th win (as if we have today sewn up as little more than a percentage booster) has me a little nervous. We're playing a team that beat Sydney at the SCG just a fortnight ago; clearly on their best day they can take it right up to quality teams, and we have undeniable form of blowing these types of games against "lowly" opposition in recent history. Remember late in 2016 we had a shot at finals, were playing Carlton, and some supporters spent the week talking about the ensuing percentage booster? We lost by 20 points. Or last year, North Melbourne in Round 19 -- we lost by 4 points -- one of several costly losses which blew our finals aspirations. Ultimately, if we don't get the job done today, we don't deserve finals yet again. It will make it 2 losses against bottom 4 clubs plus 3 awful chokes we threw away. A finalist can allow maybe 2 of these types of losses in a season, possibly 3, but certainly not 5! Dees: don't underestimate your opposition like you did the Saints last month, or North last year, or Carlton the year before. Get ahead of yourselves at your own peril.
  24. I can't take this [censored]! Every bloody result we've needed has gone the wrong way by under a goal! [censored]! It's like watching a Melbourne play 9 matches in a weekend.
  25. [censored] Adelaide. It's last year's final round all over again. Don't even have to be playing them and they still [censored] me off!
