  1. No harm in just signing a simple 1 or 2 year contract extension with Adelaide and delay his free agency. It gives him a chance to just put it out of his head, focus on footy and see where the chips fall for both clubs in 12 months time. If he waits, I think he'll find Geelong fall in a heap and Adelaide actually contend within a year or two.
  2. Would be ecstatic if this happened, not only to screw over Geelong for their laughable arrogance, but it would say a great deal about Dangerfield's character if he stayed true to his club after the events of the last month. I imagine he's going through a really difficult period at the moment, but after that match yesterday I reckon it'd be impossible to walk away. Rightly or wrongly, he would be derided by punters for walking out now.
  3. Roos probably wouldn't come out and say that unless something was in the works. Who knows, maybe Prestia's all a sideshow?
  4. Like his parents, Prestia was a member of Melbourne Football Club as a youngster and supported the Dees until draft day in 2010. His dad Osi has been involved with Melbourne coterie groups and still supplies fruit for the red and blues to this day. The lures to go home were strong. "There was always the temptation of going home to Melbourne," Prestia told the AFL Record this week. "But I thought, 'I've already started here, I've already gone through hard times at the club, where we got smashed every week, and now we were coming into the phase of winning games' … I just thought there was no point leaving." http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-05-25/prestia-home-in-the-sun Those quotes have new meaning given the drugs revelations; he went through the hard times when the club started and I would imagine he's less than pleased to be in the same position after only 5 years.
  5. His family has ties to the MFC, so it makes sense. Not unlike Aish with his ties in SA.
  6. 600k at 4 years would be band 1 compo, based on Frawley's compo.
  7. There's enough inept clubs that would pay well overs for him anyway. I could see North, Carlton and Richmond all putting forward offers to Garlo. The AFL will probably look after us again, depending on how we finish off the year.
  8. We can look at free agents all day long, but they ain't gonna come to our club unless they're DFA.
  9. It's hard to work out what happened on Saturday. Was it Ablett? Was it the Suns being resilient after an awful week? Was it North Melbourne not bothering to turn up, or just being found out? I suspect we'll have a clearer idea in a few weeks.
  10. FWIW, isn't Jaeger part of the "God squad" with Ablett? He doesn't strike me as a disloyal type, but if he's looking at property in Melbourne with a girlfriend living down here, plus the turmoil up there... who knows.
  11. Interestingly enough, I'm well informed he's having an extended period of time in Melbourne at the moment. Recovery related I wonder? Or...
  12. Surely we'll target an underpaid Sydney player? How on earth they're fitting all their players in AND giving Buddy $1M, Tippett $900k and Hannebery $800k is beyond me. The players they locked up on $300-$400k right before Buddy arrived would be fuming.
  13. The misery Demons fans wallow in is well-founded given the last 8 years of results, but far out... it's time to move on! Do you see every other club that passed on Wines wallowing in their own pity every time this kid takes another step forward? Be happy for a great young man making his mark on the game. Port have experienced a rags to riches story we all hope Melbourne can replicate, but the longer we dwell on the past the harder it is to look forward to a bright future. Lamenting the past achieves nothing. You can't do anything about it, so be proactive about what you can control, what you can change. I'm yet to see a single trade or draftee since Roos came onboard that hasn't been a raging success.
  14. My shrink once told me to stop worrying about mistakes made in the past, because there is nothing you can do to change it. That even if you had made different choices in the past, there's no way of knowing what potentially worse events may have occurred in its place. Moral of the story? GET. OVER. IT.
  15. Well, at least Taylor and his scouts haven't wasted the whole year now we have later picks. Another JKH surprise packet would be heaven.
  16. We're taking Brayshaw if we have any picks inside the top 3 at the draft.
  17. Is McCartin's diabetes any concern?
  18. Because he's injured and couldn't finish a 3km time trial?
  19. Imagine that.. our so called "home" ground actually being our home ground.
  20. Have to say GWS have an... interesting recruitment strategy. Just endlessly taking the top draft picks every year by constantly trading themselves into the high end of the draft by tossing out players like Dom Tyson. Not sure it'll take them up the ladder very fast, but they've become a treasure trove of talent if you have the picks to trade them.
  21. Trade 2 to the Bulldogs. They can draft a KPF, we'll take one of their fringe midfielders and second rounder. Keep 3 for Brayshaw.
  22. Didn't know where else to put this but run into a few Colonwood and Carlton players out on the town in Sydney tonight. No goss, just saying. Maybe I should've inquired about M. Clark?
  23. Got a feeling there'll be some very left field trades we don't see coming, likely more fringe players who can't get games at the better teams. Did any of us foresee Tyson, Riley, Michie or Vince? I think the only recruit we saw coming was Cross.
  24. Stringer, Shiel, Beams, crikey..anyone. Bulldogs need a KPF, they can spare a midfielder. Giants have talent all over the field. Buckley's in the middle of a rebuild and not averse to trading out senior players, as evidenced by the broom he swept through the list last year. The reason it's a no brainer is because you know the type of player you're getting when you trade them in. Different story with high pick draftees, as we should all be painfully aware of by now.
  25. Seems very Roos-like to trade out our high picks in exchange for a player + pick. Interesting if they then continue to trade each successive pick out for a player and another pick. In theory we could do that 3 or 4 times before the pick becomes too diluted and the players we'd get in return wouldn't be worth the trouble. And that's just one of our (probably) two top 3 picks. I'd be staggered if we're not already talking with the Bulldogs who must be desperate for Wright or McCartin. Depending on the Saints intentions (GWS and Colonwood both come into play here as they want Petracca) with pick 1, we could do very well out of these picks. In short, trading them is a no brainer.
