  1. So the poor clubs will be able to draft the best talent as they continue to flatline at the bottom of the ladder, develop the players, then watch them walk to last year's premiers for nothing? Oh, but they currently leave via trade anyway, regardless of whether they're still in contract? Great stuff AFLPA. Keep protecting the 1% at the expense of the 99%.
  2. It's weird how he had some beastly good games last year coming off an injury, but this year he's had an injury-free preseason and is in absolutely horrendous form.
  3. Tird could give them a tour of the French vineyards. He'd make an excellent tour guide!Just keep your bedroom door locked at night, lest you wake to find him injecting you with a mystery substance.
  4. Oh boy, popcorns in the microwave. They want this as far away from the tentacles of Murdoch and the AFL as possible. It will be viewed as an utterly irrelevant sport over there. Brilliant news. Essendon would be absolutely [censored] themselves tonight.
  5. Frankly I could see the AFL securing us better compensation than a trade would if we wait a year and he leaves as a free agent. End of first rounder surely. What a sad state of affairs it is supporting this club. Where you're happier for some players to leave in exchange for draft picks rather than attempt to retain them.
  6. We're still two off seasons away from having a semblance of an AFL list to rival where the Bulldogs are at now. Sadly I think almost everyone from pre-Roos will need to be turned over, delisted or retired before his tenure ends.
  7. Wouldn't be surprised if the last 3 weeks gave him pause.
  8. Neeld also gutted the list with utter stupidity, and set us back at least 3 years in list management. If Roos can't fix this team then we may as well fold, because the endless blame game for the coach is part of the reason this club has been an embarrassment for years.
  9. I think it's increasingly obvious that the draft alone, in its current format, simply makes it far too hard in an 18 team competition for the bad teams to rebuild and get off the bottom of the ladder, especially because they keep losing their senior players to better clubs. The AFL have created a mess for the poor clubs, all in the pursuit of expansion and money.
  10. The wooden spoon looking increasingly within our grasp when even Brisbane can beat Port. Wow.
  11. Not surprised that a week after the media proclaimed "the competition has never been more even!", we're back to the usual floggings. The media and the AFL would love us to believe every team has an equal chance, the reality is far different.
  12. Dogs are a very young team and I doubt they'll run the year out strongly despite their promising start. They edged out Sydney by metres but Fremantle and Hawthorn look set to [censored] them comfortably.
  13. Would the AFL ever allow us to cut our playing list by 4 players (say, from 40 to 36) so we could actually throw larger contracts at fewer players, rather than diluting our salary cap across 40 players? We'd need to delist about 8 more players (not hard) and replace them with 4. Unless we get some kind of concession to help us, I don't see us ever being able to get off the bottom now. It's beyond insulting that GWS are still getting list/draft/salary concessions out the wazoo, but we get zilch.
  14. Howe can just [censored] right off. Inflated ego because he takes a few speccies every few weeks, and doesn't like that Roos is playing him in a different position to where he wants to play. [censored] off to the Giants, you [censored].
  15. Out of interest, how many players were different today to who lined up against our 50 point loss to the Hawks last year? Would be fascinating to see that comparison.
  16. Gil has his priorities in order though -- looking after the drug cheats by hanging out with their president all night Friday. Wonder if he was hanging out with PJ today, helping brainstorm ideas for struggling clubs?
  17. But... but... the training reports said they've never looked better!
  18. Anyone feeling bad about our loss today can take some solace from tonight's match in the west. It's only 3QT and Gold Coast are already losing by more than we were at FT. What in God's name has happened to that club? Suffice to say, I feel no sympathy for them after all the draft concessions they got (not dissimilar to how other team's supporters probably view us after all our butchered draft picks).
  19. 2 goals in 3 quarters. Yikes. I called 100 points+ to WC before the game even started and was laughed at. Feeling chuffed right about now! As for Stevie J, dirty sniper who makes up for a lack of brain cells with a surplus of stupidity. And only a week after what happened to his teammate's [testicles], absolutely braindead [censored]. Ah, and there goes our record breaking loss today! Thanks Gold Coast!!! (for the four points, too)
  20. Didn't you hear the AFL's press release, Nasher? The competition has never been more even! Plus... um... equalisation... and stuff!
  21. Uh, the players. And the endless blame game for the coach is exactly the reason we are in this endless mess. The players need to shut up, do what they're told, put in the effort, and the reward will come. There is nothing wrong with what Roos is implementing, and one need only look at the players we've drafted/recruited since he joined us to validate that.
  22. That's [censored] pitiful by Carlton. How ironic, after all these years, that the pair of us are back at the, seemingly, bottomless pit of the AFL ladder. How ironic we play each other so late in the season. Can only imagine what the story of the game will be once we get that far into the season, and that close to the salvation of top draft picks.
  23. Blease will be lucky to get a kick.
