  1. Apparently Boyd's direct opponent was playing his second AFL game. Just makes me respect what Hogan is achieving that much more. He's a freak.
  2. Boyd got the nomination?? Comfortably the most baffling Rising Star "performance" I've seen. Two goals from soft free kicks directly in front of goal and a third from waiting in the goal square while his teammate earned the hard ball for him (and he nearly fumbled it!) The only remotely impressive moment was a contested mark against two Lions players (the team with the worst defence in the league). Sheed very, very stiff here. Once again this reiterates the tomfoolery going on with this award. The best players don't get the nomination, there's no consistency with who they're nominating, and it completely disregards that a good performance by a kid against great opposition is far more respectable than a kid "dominating" against the worst teams in the league.
  3. Still staggers me that Bontempelli lost the thing last year. Lewis Taylor hasn't shown much at all this year, but the Bont is carrying his team to wins.
  4. Loving the Brayshaw/Jones bromance. More senior players to take our youth under their wings, please!
  5. The two best mates getting in on the action: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2015-06-21/rd-12-nealbullen-and-stretch-postmatch ANB: Definitely the best day of my life so far.
  6. Did anyone else read that Selwood apparently told Jones he was the worst captain in the entire league? Suck it Duckwood, you arrogant [censored]!. Look at the scoreboard! Your team is on the slide!
  7. I'm so glad Demonland's server was down to prevent me from posting what I was going to post 4 hours ago.
  8. Promising start. Would be a refreshing change if this doesn't end up appearance #3 of the team that played GWS and Port...
  9. Can we turn this into a defensive slog for another 110 minutes?
  10. Would've thought Riley was the perfect player to start this game, knock the crap out of Cats players like Selwood, and really throw them off balance. Would've set a great tone for the game and set an example for the way we're going to play. Instead, he'll come on at the end of the third quarter long after Geelong have found their groove.
  11. Possibly. Just find his body language on-field quite poor and having gone through the entire Frawley melodrama last year it's hard not to draw parallels.
  12. GWS and Gold Coast get preferential treatment when it comes to media excuses, because they only exist due to broadcast and media demands. They have no interest in making excuses for us because they're probably eyeing us off for expansion/relocation in 7 years time (broadcast rights agreement after the next). They were very quick to excuse the likely fall of GWS due to losing Mumford. That became the media line across every platform.
  13. Agreed, no harm in letting the players run loose today and try to play offensively. Players should be feeling the freedom to take the game on, especially when finals are out of the equation and we're just playing for pride. Carlton are an excellent example of a rejuvenated team enjoying their football when all the complexity gets stripped away.
  14. Agreed, Howe at his best is a great player. The problem is his attitude. He's not playing like he cares, he's not dragging anyone along with him. He's not putting pressure on the opposition. He's dropping his head and it's eerily reminiscent of what we put up with Frawley last year. Someone whose brain is already out the door and is just playing out the year without a vested interest in moving the club forward. You can't do anything with players like that except drop them or get rid of them for best available currency.
  15. I'll be shocked if we score 40 points.
  16. Essentially, he's lazy and only shows up every 4 or 5 games. Other teams can carry that, we can't. Top 10 pick and we'd be laughing.
  17. We don't stand a chance matching their skill and discipline, so please Roosy just turn it into a scrap. I want to see guts, I want to see it ugly. I want to see players who give a damn and don't drop their heads, but keep running to the next tackle. More than anything I'd love PigDog to line up on Selwood and make his day absolutely miserable with tackle after tackle. Don't even care of he gives away free kicks, I just don't want to see Geelong walk away with a hundred point win and no bruises for their party tonight. Ruin their celebrations by battering them up like demons should!
  18. It's funny the fawning going on over Boyd/Stringer. One's shown nothing and the other has proven himself countless times, yet 7 are painting them as some kind of unstoppable forward line duo. Bizarre. Meanwhile, Hogan kicked 5 last week and it barely got a mention by any of the media. The Bulldogs fans on BF are fornicating themselves by calling Stringer vastly superior to Hogan. Gee whiz, he's only got 30 more games under his belt.
  19. It'll definitely be time for the razors if we lose to Brisbane this year. They are absolutely rancid. On current form, we'll struggle to even beat Carlton. They've basically been told "just take the risks and wear the mistakes", and funnily enough it seems to be paying off.
  20. Against Brisbane... let's keep it in perspective. We'll struggle tomorrow, no doubt. Hopefully not as badly as we've struggled in recent history.
  21. Literally the only defence is that they had the most boring game of the year on their hands and had to do everything in their power to make it interesting. They only succeeded at turning viewers off though.
  22. Everything about Seven's AFL coverage is an embaRrassment. Ten can't get the rights back soon enough.
  23. I'd feel ill if I was a Brisbane supporter, with the commentators fawning over every Bulldogs player and barely mentioning the Lions at all.
  24. I would give anything for Saturday nights with Andy Maher right about now.
