  1. relevance? QueenC makes some valid statements. Another case of missing the point altogether.
  2. Wait on! He barracked for Melbourne as a child. Lets get him.
  3. Very apt. I thought that was obvious to even the most.....but then again.
  4. http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/seve...4351252039.html And I dont want any of these.
  5. Goose (and what an apt name that is ) thinks Bailey should make a statement to the future of Carroll jeopardising the financial and legal position of MFC and MFC should state that it is taking Jack Watts in the draft as No 1 pick for god only know reasons. I have no doubt you're glad Goose knows his footy. Like two peas in a pod of ignorance. There is a good reason I dont carry on about draft players because I dont get to see them play (much like yourself). However I dont have the need to pretentiously pose and carry on like you do about potential players. Who else would start a needless thread " I dont rate this draft"? More to the point who beyond yourself would care? Many posters like myself have exposed you as an ego without substance. Check the "State your draft preferences" thread and see the responses. So you see Freaky boy I do have an opinion (generally about most things) and in this case its not a high opinion. Keep beating the chest big boy. It often pays to take the opposite tack to Freak and you will be pretty close to the money.
  6. Its not a matter of the youth policy. Its whether they are any bloody good. Few games at 2 clubs who have now got rid of him is enough to suggest "Keep Clear".
  7. What ever I see dwarfs your microscopic outlook its not funny. In fact I cant think of one "big picture" contribution you have made. Though I am sure you will respond to blow your own trumpet When did I say that? In fact I have been regularly critical of a number of aspects of MFC list and players. Making stuff up Freak is the work of simple minds. Yours being in the extreme. It doesn't but it indeed debunks your silly comment "Gardiner is a hell of a lot better than miller". Beyond your self infatuated hot air what indeed have you put up to support? Nothing but your own hyperbole. Better than wedging your ass on the fence post isnt it?
  8. Not as flawed as your classic comments "Gardiner is a hell of a lot better than miller." "WIth regards to Miller i've never known a player not being able to mark or even handball properly." Either way he has averaged more marks than Gardiner. And that takes into account where Miller has played a negating role in defence where stats are low. That stat in itself does little to champion Gardiner. Miller is no star of the game but he isn't the disaster you have ridiculously tried to present. At least 45Hotgod was able to put up a third party statistical comparison. You perennially post nothing but the limitations of your football knowledge.
  9. You inability to show even a modest amount of objectivity in assessing Miller symbolises why so many readers of this site hold your views with as such low estimation and smirk at how you seemingly trumpet your derided and silly views.
  10. I see where S T is coming from. Any finals win is a good win but it was a lame St Kilda side that night and it was Thomas's final exit. It was the naive that it was an important step as we still had a poor record interstate out West and it was well known that Daniher was coming up for his last role of the dice in 2007. If we had an inglorious exit in 2006 against St Kilda ND's cards would have been marked for the next year. Many experts rated as as the best side in Victoria coming into 2007. It carefully excluded the Swan, WCE and Freo for starters. If we improved we were a top 4 chance. We didn't. We went backwards in every facet. Hindsight is indeed a wonderful thing.
  11. I still think Geelong got the better of the deal....by a long way.
  12. Agree with those three highlights with the 2000 SF win against Carlton. The win in Sydney in 2006 with only 18 fit men was as good as it get for courage and determination. One other highlight was watching Robert Flower putting on an exhibition at the MCG.
  13. A two edge sword of a comment if ever there was one.
  14. Please use the specific thread to discuss Charlie Gardiner. Not that there is much to discuss.
  15. SILLY Nasher has summed it up. He isn't better than Miller. Gardiner is a 2 Club delist. And comparing him to Bartram is mindless. If you list the players on the MFC list you clearly dont value I dont see the point in talking Gardiner up. We wont take him if we are serious about improving our list.
  16. How many good players fall through to the PSD? Very few. PSD#1 is a limited value token subject to the below. The value of the PSD#1 pick is: 1. the ability to leverage the PSD#1 in a trade for an uncontracted player. 2. the contingent possibility that if and I mean if a good player falls to the PSD then we get first dibs at him. 3. to make naive posters froth at the mouth with the expectation that the PSD#1 lands first crack at any AFL player coming out of contract regardless of the fact he is never going to leave that Club. The very low level of trades this year and the likelihood of no quality players in the PSD means its value is diminished.
  17. No interest whatsoever. Pass > Charlie Gardiner.
  18. He has just been recognised as a good footballer at MFC, and a better one at Adelaide. No pin up boy allegations here
  19. You referring to anyone in particular or just blowing hot air? I have not seen anyone post that point of view here.
  20. I dont think Ox was in more than a part time mentoring role. Much of their scoring power comes from their running game. Their forward line is an achilles heel. Its very relevant. There is no doubt that Thompson has emerged to be the star player MFC always expected him to be. Imagine if he had stayed with us! The issue is that MFC have been crying out for a half competent inside first dibs midfielder. Given MFC in 2004 were blessed with a plethora of outside players like TJ, Yze, Bruce, Green and others, the emergence of a first dibs inside midfielder like Thompson made the these outside second touch midfielders look and play alot better. Its no coincidence that when Thompson went down with an injury in about Round 17, so did MFC's midfield. As White tired and Thompson was absent we had no one aside the hardworking McDonald to win the midfield possessions. MFC's season folded like a pack of cards.
  21. Oh dear what the human mind will make up Anthony Rock was the midfield coach in 2005 and 2006. He inherited a mediocre, inexperienced midfield which was reliant on players like Junior and an inexperienced Brock. It was supplemented by Pickett who in a rare patch provide some useful ball winning skills in the midfield. What went wrong in 2007? Well, everything.Injuries, form/career collapse of many players. MFC's midfield got exposed...badly. You need to look beyond the numbers as White was a shadow of his 2004 days. Too many easy ineffectual possessions with little impact on the game. He has been shot since the centre circle came in. It was embarrassing watching White getting towelled continuously in the centre in 2007. And that right Thompson left at the end of 2004 which left a huge hole that Rock took over. The same uninformed critques that applied to Rock are not being applied to Williams. Thompson made Ratten look good to the casual weekly supporter. Your assessment of the mids is self serving and naive.
  22. ....We already lack enough credibility amongst other Clubs and their players without making financially ridiculous offers.
  23. As midfield coach? <_< FWIW, I am not sure we want to be a cesspool of ex players given we have had 40+ years of little success. I want to ensure MFC gets the best coaches possible and I dont give a hoot where they have played. FWIW, Ox can come to MFC if he indeed has something to offer the players as a Coach. His post playing influences have not always been the most preferred at MFC.
