  1. Ponting declared giving him easily enough time to bowl them out. Given the placidity of the pitch, setting the South Africans anything sub 400 would have been treacherous and given them an outside sniff. Asking for 490 plays Sth Africa out of the Test. We had 4 sessions (1 &1/3 days) at the Sth Africans where we bowled 127 overs at them. They had Rudolph who played the innings of his life against the best fifth day bowler in the world. How much earlier should you realistically declare to given yourself a good chance of getting 10 wickets? If you cant get 10 wickets in 127 overs, you might want to look at your bowling attack.
  2. Regardless of whether he does play APS football or not, I would be surprised if he does play in the Rd 1 H&A. He might get a sniff later in the year. Like all 1st year players Watts will need to monitored to ensure he can cope with the demands of AFL.
  3. Big deal! How would they know how to evaluate a champion player? I dont know why you are putting any substance on what they say or wasting time defends. Its showing more holes in your thinking than their's Discernment is in short supply it seems.
  4. It was a belter of a WACA track for batting and Sth Africa had a very pedestrian attack. Hodges first 100 was a battle but the 2nd 100 was against an attack that had its back broken. I think these conditions lead to a re rating of the innings beyond the runs. We did not declare too late. Warne had a full day on the 5th day WACA wicket and could not bowl them out. Speaks volumes for the how insipidly placid the deck was. Why do Test Curators prepare such characterless, benign, dead cricket wickets? Its been stuffing the Test competition for years.
  5. How hell would they know anything of substance? If you dont back their opinions then I would not be wasting time posting them and defending them. And if you do then its the blind leading the blind!! I am not sure how pimply 17yos are valid, experienced or reliable judges of one player over another. And its pure schoolyard brag that can make any insightful assessment on who is the best junior in the country. I know whose opinions I'd back and it aint theres. Morton to Watts has summed it pretty well
  6. Or who think they can? A belated thanks to Alpha33. Caro has only said what have been rumoured for some time about the stadium deals
  7. Maybe..maybe not. We may be ending with a bigger cost if legal fees are involved just from our side. Its a good outcome and good riddance.
  8. Correct. The plan of the current administration is much different to Wallet (I note that they wont use Hawthorn as example). Wallet took hold of a team that was middle ranked and proceeded to destroy the Club lists with the recruitment of has been and undertake some of the worst recruitment and list management processes that has left them in the shambles they are in. Richmond have burnt a golden opportunity over 5 years with football management incompetence and poor coaching. Its an honest and factual admission of where the Club is at. And good on them for having the integrity and the nous to do so. Seems they have the jump over many of the posters here. What has been proven from the situations of Carlton, Hawthorn and St Kilda is that it does take a number of years to rejuvenate a football list that are bereft of the talent needed to be successful. What game plan should we have been playing Mo? I failed to see a list with the skills, pace, experience and competence to execute any game plan. Keep believing the mirage.
  9. The 2008 financial year finished on 31 October. Where else would the payment be made out of? It requires settlement with AFL approval.
  10. At least Voss did not get taped doing something that he clearly should not have done! Davis is talented, but lazy, selfish and has had an attitude that has p1$$ed off a two focussed clubs. The things underlined could soon cause a rupture in the relationship.
  11. You look as though you need it.. Goose. :D
  12. I have never read nor seen any of the above.
  13. He is very direct and handy outside a nightclub too. B) Cousin's training and playing ethos should be right up Voss's alley. There should be little to change there. And all the other stuff ( ) will be the realm of the BL management and AFL unless it seeps into his playing capacity. Davis is a speculative punt. Voss and Davis seem chalk and cheese in attitude and commitment. Davis has burnt bridges at two clubs now who had disciplined premiership coaches at the helm. I reckon Davis will struggle at Brisbane. I also reckon it will be interesting to see how TJ goes (lasts) under Voss.
  14. Even though he is no longer effectively training with or being considered for playing by the Club, Carroll will be on our list and payroll for the rest of 2009 season unless there is a negotiated position between player(and manager) and the Club that is approved and ratified by the AFL. Its no longer a matter of the Club establishing a breach of contract by Carroll or Carroll stuffing up one more time. For all intensive purposes Carroll is gone from the Club and Carroll is keen to get his AFL career gonig elsewhere and its a matter of tying up the loose ends to achieve this. Given Carroll's hopes for continuing his career and if he has another Club prepared to nominate him in the PSD there is a real incentive for his management to conclude the MFC negotiations prior to the PSD. At worst we have dead space on our list for 2009 and we pay out Carroll for 2009 over the course of the year.
  15. I dont find AFL games a faultless barometer of football knowledge. Doug Hawkins played 350 games of AFL footballer and comes across as a boofhead on football analysis. No career in coaching for the "Hawk".
  16. We do know the Club is seeking as a priority to finalise its office and administration base and also formalising both winter and summer training venues. The media have also advised that both Casey and the Bubbledome have issues that need to be be settled before finalisation of these matters. The media have also advised the negotiations are close to final. I'd rather the Club get it right and do the best deal and not possibly compromise negotiations by making premature announcements bowing to members deemed "right to know".
  17. Exactly. There performance last year was galling given the expectations after they traded their first round pick for TJ. They are in the hunt while they have Brown, Bradshaw and Black.
  18. Gabba? We play Carlton Rd 8 and 22. Either way he will be sitting in the stands that night. When is Casey playing Bendigo?
  19. Well done Goose. Never let important facts get in the way of idle speculation.
  20. Because it suits those with an axe to grind for their own ends....whatever they are.
  21. Well put Redleg. Condolences to the Ridley family.
