Omg he is so adorable. Senior dogs have my heart.

edit: this is the best thread Demonland has ever had

Our dogs have always been a huge part of the family. I have no doubt they give kids skills, attributes and responsibilities only they can teach.

  2. This is Vernon. He is a rescue dog so we inherited his name.

My wife and I have had dogs all our married life. Out first was Lovie named after Brett Lovett.

Vernon is 17 and is partially deaf and blind. He knows the time however. He never misses dinner time and walk time.

He gets walked up and down Collins street every night. His favorite nights are Thursday and Friday when the office girls come out of the pubs. He loves the attention.

    A beautiful dog.

Hey tilly. I would kill to see the Pack play at Lambeau Field and I'm well aware of their tailgate parties. Pre game at the Cambuslang Orange Lodge or the Loudern Tavern is pretty good too though. I saw them play down at Joe Robbie Stadium against the Dolphins and also a game between the Redskins (now Commanders) and Giants at the old RFK stadium.

I've also been to the Bridge for a game. Chelsea were playing Hertha Berlin in a Champions League game and I must have been in row ZZ of the huge East Stand. Incidentally I took two Chelsea season ticket holders up to Ibrox for a title decider against the sheep sh@ggers (Aberdeen) when we had half the Dutch national team playing for us and Andrei Kanchelskis and they were blown away by the intensity of the crowd.

Giants (particularly if it was a Manning game) @ DC would have been fantastic. Passionate fans in Washington.

Sat in the East stand for a friendly against Colchester a few years back. Older and sober I was more worried about getting out of the ground in an emergency.

I think that perhaps people that may have grown up watching and / or playing football before being introduced to Aussie Rules at a later age have a slightly different take on what makes a great atmosphere. For me it will never be one team chanting Melbourne when they score a goal followed by the other team chanting the name of their team when they do likewise for two hours, backwards and forwards. Even with 80,000 in the ground it has always felt a bit lame. A bit like attending an NFL game perhaps. Lots of woohoo's and high fives which is all very civilised but nothing compared to the feeling of taking up one entire end of a stadium with your own tribe singing non stop for 90 minutes. Trust me, the two aren't even close.

One problem with crowd segregation however is that it creates a lot of false bravado, particularly with the minority of people that want to emulate some the stuff they see in Latin America and Europe that has no place in our country. What happened last night was a disgrace and has set the game here back years I think. It was only a few weeks ago that the 'supporters' of an ethnic backed state league side in Sydney were giving nazi salutes. There's no question that The City Football Group (PLC) should be awarded the 3 points and Victory should have to play their next 2-3 games behind closed doors and pay a large fine. Security also need to be taking games like these seriously as there is no way either set of fans should have been able to take flares inside the ground. What possessed the city keeper to throw one back into the crowd I have no idea.

I regularly attended games at Stamford Bridge in the 80’s.

I have been a visiting fan at Green Bay and Arlington. I use these 2 because they are the only stadiums I have visited as a Niners fan.

There is absolutely no comparison between the atmosphere at the NFL and English football games.

Big cities in the US get to see their team 8 times a year. It is a major event.

The pre-game is an event in itself. Game day crowd participation is like no other sport in the world.

I’ve sat in the stands at Candlestick Park and just recently Levis Stadium and being at Stamford Bridge against another London club just doesn’t compare to what I’ve experienced.

Would be keen to know where you have been to to watch the NFL.

Yes, I recall! Didn’t realise you were still about on here.

I sat with Lukey26 at that game. I’m still (just) in touch with her. She was @WhateverItTakeson here, don’t think she’s active though.

Yep read quite a lot. Fantastic site.

Lukey was terrific. Loved the Dees.

I still talk with Demonology people. Things were pretty active last September.

I’ve thought about that a lot over the years too. I’ve been on Demonland for a really long time, but the only members I’ve ever personally spoken to are Andy and WJ, @Grapeviney@Jaded No More, @old55 and @Slartibartfast, and all only fairly anecdotally, and a really long time ago in the case of the latter three. Nevertheless many of the usernames here feel familiar to me and I feel like I know the personality attached, even if it’s a mostly imagined one based on what they write. It’s a community here. We all know each other, even if it’s a very curated version of ourselves. Every now and again I’ll see an old thread where a name I haven’t seen in ages comes up, and I see they haven’t visited in years and I wonder what happened?

Occasionally I also morbidly wonder if anyone on Demonland would know or care if I did die. Given I have no personal connection to anyone on here the news may never filter through. How depressing!

I had beers with you back in 2009 after a NAB game in Launceston. Roughead kicked to last goal of the game for us to lose by 3 points. I was with Lukey26 from Demonology.

He couldn’t try very hard after Mitch smashed his head in at Casey one day.

The game was at Princes Park.

Robinson dropped him 100m off the ball while he wasn't looking.

Paul Wheatley terrorised him for the rest of the game and Robinson wanted to be somewhere else.

I was in the rooms after the game and Bail was clearly out of sorts.

He did thank Wheatley for squaring up.

    Disgusting act by Robinson.

  8. There is no way he will go to the PSD.

He will not want that as part of his legacy and this will not get acrimonious.

I can see us with 3 first rounders over the next 2 years and I’d be surprised if we did not have void fillers in mind or even spoken to that these picks will be used on.

  9. If the Dockers can somehow manufacture a top 10 pick this year and send it with next years first rounder I think we take it and run.

Use this years top 10 pick and next years 2 first rounders on role players.

Its how Hawthorn got 3 in a row.

The sharpest steak knives I've seen was Jack Crisp, who was part of the Dayne Beams deal.

Greg Miller with North negotiated a transfer fee of 60k for John Longmuire with the Swans.

To sweeten the deal he asked the Swans to throw in Wayne Carey for an extra 10k. Swans agreed.

Carey has been on record referring to himself as steak knives.

  11. That was the last game I went to that year. I was middle deck Olympic stand.

When McMahon kicked the goal it was if we had won the game.

I was one of the fans standing and cheering.
