2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
watchtheeyes replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am now utterly torn between Parish and Curnow! -
Suns apparently have a few big academy selection next year, so they can make up point with a host of lower picks = solution to Prestia next year.
-
He fits the Roos admired mould of big modern midfielder. Still wouldn't mind Parish now though, thought he'd be gone before.
-
I'm just going to meander on over to bomberblitz for a bit of an eavesdrop...
-
We trade out a player next year and move up the draft...
-
Interesting, though that goes against what Mahoney just said... ?
-
I don't know what FMD means but it seems to be used a lot in this situation.. FMD!
-
“Importantly, the deal signed this morning was the original deal proposed with Gold Coast involving Jeremy Howe. We have just replaced the Howe to Gold Coast component with pick No.29 – the pick we received from Collingwood in the Howe trade. Gotta love Demonland...
-
Does Curnow get to 10?
-
That's epic!
-
peter ryan ✔@AFL_petryan .@melbournefc to gain picks 3 and 10 from @GoldCoastSUNS for pick 6 and a future first round. Great deal. On http://AFL.com.au soon.
-
Be interesting to see who they take at 4 & 5. Reckon Weideman could definitely feature as they'll want help for Daniher. Could leave Curnow for us if they take Parish as well. I'd be really happy with that.
-
Haha, very true. In any case, the kid got BOG for the Allies in the pre-GF curtain raiser.. so he's clearly got talent.
-
Kevin Sheehan's comments to a Canberra reporter: "He's been impressive right throughout the year. He's a boy that injury interrupted last year and ... he's got his body right and he's very impressive," he said. "He's a lovely, rangy-sized kid, about 192 [centimetres tall], but that ability to get off his man with a burst of speed, presents really well, got lovely soft hands. He's one that is capable of following Jack Steele and being a draftee at the end of the year. He's your best prospect on what he's shown this year, he's a genuine prospect." GWS might not take him, sounds very interesting!

Don't disagree, but I don't think it's quite the imperative that it was. We need a foil for Jesse, Dawes aint it. EDIT: Should add that Weideman makes me nervous, if it was me, I'd pass on him. Big, tall injury prone (to this point), allegedly goes missing in games. Gee whiz, I know there's upside but it could so easily become a nightmare.

Add Salem to that. And possibly Harmes rotating through on occasion (though I reckon he's going to turn in to a really good HFF in time.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TOMAS BUGG

That was a Stretch... -
Tyson also copped a knee issue very early and seemed to carry it for much of the year.
-
Seriously mate, there are very few parallels. Both Salem and Tyson have shown miles more than anything Toumpas ever did. It's not a worthy precedent.
-
There's a few around that mark, so I reckon its a possibility. After Schache and Weitering, you've got Parish, Mills, Ah Chee, Curnow, Weideman... it's possible. Either Parish or Curnow, and I'd be pretty pleased.
-
That was my understanding yeah, and a competitor. Heard him compared to Jake Stringer... yes please.
-
I'm not sure if that is a troll... Tyson was epic last year, and Salem was phenomenal in the limited time he had this year.
-
Don't know about Weideman, have heard he can go missing a bit. Would take Curnow though!
-
Bugg>Toumpas Melksham>Howe Not stellar, but we've done ok with what has been available.
-
I agree that we needed another forward but I wouldn't want just any forward (ie. Walker, Casboult). We obviously were never in the picture for Dixon because of his association with Hinkley, and Lynch never wanted to go in the first place... so i'm a little confused as to what you think we could've done? Besides, we might still pick up a handy foil in the draft.
