  1. Does that surprise you after spending time on this site?
  2. Ground ball such an issue.. just never one grabbing. Never clean
  3. Fritsch and Kozzy looking for the easy, flashy possession is KILLLING me… What to do about Oliver? Does he go forward..? Can’t play him in the middle right now..
  4. I’m going to refer back to my previous post in the trac injury thread about the desperate pile on the dees… This is pathetic from the AFL media. Pathetic.
  5. See my subsequent post.. I don’t accept that there was a lack of duty of care (ie. appropriate due process was followed)
  6. Don’t get me wrong.. he hasn’t been up to the standard or intensity for ages (when playing).. but geez I could do with some Spargo delivery inside 50
  7. “Ok so it looks like you’ve got broken ribs, are you feeling faint” ”No” ”Are you feeling nauseous” ”No” ”Coughing up any blood, breathing ok” ”No, yep” ”Ok well like I said we think you’ve got broken ribs, it doesn’t seem like there is any other involvement, so it’s up to you. We can give you a jab, but you’ll be very uncomfortable?” ”Understood, I want to try” Tries, fails, gets taken off and sent to hospital. Obviously I have no idea if that was the exchange.. but it seems logical and reasonable, and in my view entirely appropriate.
  8. I’m getting so sick of the desperate pile on the club has been subjected to from everyone outside, and seemingly many others inside the club… the furore around him getting put back on the field is the next example. The AFL community, and especially the media, have been death riding Melbourne since the finals last year.. starting with the exit, continuing with May’s Collingwood comments and for just about every week thereafter. Should Petracca have gone back on? No with hindsight… was a single person saying that when he ran back on? No.. it was, how brave.. Do you really think they would’ve just tapped his chest a few times and said, “you’ll be right son, off you go”. I have no doubt due process was followed, as the club will no doubt be forced in to saying in a statement of reply. Don’t get sucked in by the garbage media commentary.. This is your Dees. Stick by them.
  9. Kudos for the very balanced (touch optimistic) post. I totally agree that confidence is a massive factor in the game, and we’re totally lacking it. It makes players introspective, single minded, hesitant etc.. If manifests in missed kicks, missed shots, reactive at clearance etc. The flip side (ie. Collingwood) is instinct, confidence in team mates, high difficulty execution etc. The great challenge is.. how do you fix that? Incredibly difficult when the team is sliding.. and if Goodwin manages to achieve it, then he’ll deserve the big bucks.
  10. Like that expression.. we are less than the sum of our parts. Definitely can’t claim the coaches are getting the best out of their players. Quite the opposite really..
  11. Disposal has always been lacking.. just covered it up with effort, intensity etc. But with age.. comes a spotlight on the flaws.
  12. I hear that they have a lot of talent out.. but we were beaten as much by system which we played directly in to. Turn the ball over, run hard the other way.. don’t need talent to do that.
  13. Surely… surely Petty goes now. Fullarton has to be a better option (and yes.. I know). At least it leaves Van Rooyen forward…
  14. Coaching, viney and Oliver the biggest culprits. Saying effort wasn’t there is a lazy take.. easily won contested ball. But the team looks totally lost going forward.. that’s all coaching. Viney and Oliver are out and out liabilities with the ball in their hand. Completely pathetic for so called leaders..
  15. The fact we kept them to below 100 given the dominance needs to be recognised, the defence did what they could and it also means the desire was there. But utterly smashed in the clearance, so were losing field position all night. And when we tried to clear, we have no one capable of taking a relieving mark, or even square a contest up the field. Tall forwards were woeful.. And that was the game in a nutshell. Zero field position, and no way of getting it back out.
  16. Genuine question, is 3 games in 13 days a reasonable excuse?
  17. The chat about no tall forwards when McDonald in the ruck ignores the fact that Smith, Petracca and Fritsch are not exactly small and all play as marking forwards PLUS can beat their opponents when the ball hits the deck
  18. Say what you want about McDonald (most of it fair now…) but he’s not totally useless when the ball hits the deck. So if he goes in to ruck to rest Gawn, then he’s capable of adding a bit as long as he isn’t completely pantsed in the tap
  19. This creates challenges for Carlton’s backline in match ups and forces us to lower our eyes… seems like I’m alone but like it a lot
  20. Petracca to play as genuine CHF and to tear the game apart
  21. Just spitballing solutions at this point.. Grundy just isn’t the answer, and putting Disco forward is just panicking
  22. Fair point.. hadn’t thought about the ruck. Can smith go in there and effectively play as an extra midfielder?
  23. Agree on changes, but I reckon we go in small. Smith can play a defensive role on Weitering, McDonald plays as traditional tall and Fritsch can float. Petracca to spend 50% time at half forward.. think it creates a lot of challenges for Carlton’s backline. Jordan straight swap for Brayshaw (reckon Jordan should’ve been sub already), and Grundy can be sub as a break glass in case of emergency situation
  24. Why do we need to replace JVR with a tall? Smith and McDonald are the talls, get smith to play on Weitering and Petracca spends 50% forward. Jordan replaces Brayshaw, and spargo comes in.. god knows we need his ball use
