  1. Height matters little if you can't mark or convert into goals or aren't strong enough to out-muscle an opponent whether you are forward or back. A slightly shorter player might be stronger and have a better leap or be more mobile or have more endurance. Pure height is not necessarily an advantage.
  2. No word that I've seen on the official site or on social media except whichever poster it was that mention something on the 3AW rumour file which mentioned an unnamed AFL player with a new idea about sports helmets.
  3. 4. I wish all our games were Friday night and we win and I can enjoy the weekend. Other than that my preference is Saturday day, Saturday night, Sunday 1pm. Hated the Sunday 4:40pm slots. I have no opinion of Thursday night but have no problem with them as long as we have a sufficient break prior to it.
  5. The official site hasn't adjusted their day/times to include Monday yet. I assume that will be updated by tomorrow going by past weeks. If Monday follows the regular training schedule then it will be as follows: Date: Monday, 11th December Time: 11.30am Location: Gosch's Paddock, Olympic Bvd, Melbourne Before heading down though I would check this link to confirm or call the club. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/Team/training-times
  6. 10th is nothing to sneeze at. Snuck in to cost his players sponsors extra dough to sponsor him for the next year.
  7. I may be there on Friday too. I believe Wednesdays are "closed sessions" or more practically an unadvertised sessions on a publicly open and accessible field. According to Saty these are usually "craft work" sessions which I assume has the players working on their specific areas as well as the usual running and fitness work. Based on the photos from this past Wednesday (yesterday) there were a couple players missing, namely Max and May, as they went to Alice Springs, I'm assuming for some type of promotion for our games in the NT. I'm sure we'll see the promos/articles on that soon. Most other players were there. It's safe to assume the majority of players will be in attendance on Friday's advertised session.
  8. That's where I'd heard it before. I wasted about half an hour searching Demonland for that answer knowing I had heard it somewhere.
  9. Based on the photos it looked like they were swapping the white "vest" indicating who was a forward in the contest. I'm quite comfortable with Smith being played as a swing man, either forward or back, depending on what's needed. Can't hurt to try him forward. He has endurance and can take a grab. If he can hit the scoreboard then he could be that third "tall" option.
  10. Keep the sun directly off the head or shield the back of the neck.
  11. If we have a full deck in the backline I'd like to see Joel Smith tried in the forward line. I know we played him there in the Prelim but I'd like to see him get a bit more game time up forward in a game where we're not getting smashed in.
  12. To be fair this has been labelled as a minor procedure and he is billed to be back on the track on Monday. Technically going under the knife is surgery but this procedure is not a knee reconstruction.
  13. We were probably saying the same about Spargo last year ...
  14. Would love to know how this list compares to other clubs at this stage.
  15. Agree with this. He'll play as a forward, do some rucking in forward ruck situations such as ball ups deep in the forward line and throw ins. Might do some relief ruck work. No need to throw him to the wolves. He's a project player blessed to be learning the craft from Stafford and Max and as an understudy to Pruessy.
  16. Is it time for training already? Unofficial training day but if anyone is heading down to training today we'd appreciate an update. Thanks in advance.
  17. @Supermercado is our jumper numbers expert. Perhaps he can shed some light on whether this is abnormal or not.
