Well that settles it then. Melbourne has been assured by Kysaiah Pickett’s management that he is content at the Demons despite continual approaches from clubs across the country. Pickett signed a new deal last April until 2027 and while he has spent time in Adelaide and West Australia growing up he does not consider either of them his home town. Clubs including Port Adelaide have recently again upped the ante as they attempt to bring him back to the state where he lived with his uncle, Power legend Byron Pickett, for a time as he approached draft age. But his manager Peter Rohde confirmed on Tuesday he had spoken with Melbourne football boss Alan Richardson as recently as Tuesday morning to assure him there was nothing to the speculation. Pickett loves the city of Darwin and its tropical weather as an escape from the bitter cold of Melbourne’s winters. But unless the AFL fast-tracks a 20th team into the Northern Territory before he retires, he will remain with Melbourne for the foreseeable future. All Melbourne players have been disappointed with their response to a pair of straight-sets finals departures, flat they could not put together a deep finals run. But as the Demons prepare to take on Collingwood in their round 24 clash on Friday night, his focus is on fulfilling his contract. Ironically Pickett has just been spruiking the city in a fashion shoot for the City of Melbourne for splashed across his Instagram pages. He and partner Ardu welcomed their first child in April this year, with Pickett enjoying a solid but not brilliant season with 34 goals after 40, 41 and 37 majors in his past three seasons for the Demons.

According to Goody's Presser they will be honouring the 64 premiership team as well. Hassa Mann was at the club today talking about his hate for Collingwood.

I just assumed it was either an inquiry by the media when talking to Port about the Houston to Dees trade and whether the Dees throwing Kozzy into the mix would sweeten the deal or Port, knowing they're losing Houston and Melbourne being a potential suitor, would the Dees consider trading a player who was also contracted so as not to have to give up 1st rounders, and they leaked to the media.

Melbourne Demons, Christian Petracca injuries, communication with Max Gawn, Noosa holiday, Caroline Wilson, Footy Classified Caroline Wilson says she is "staggered" at Melbourne's communication breakdown with Christian Petracca. It follows reports that Petracca addressed the playing group on Monday, clarifying his extended break in Noosa, his terrifying season-ending injuries suffered in round 13, as well as growing trade speculation. There have been suggestions that Petracca had become disgruntled and disillusioned with the club. And despite Dees skipper Max Gawn moving to shut down speculation that tension still exists between Petracca and his teammates, Wilson still has her concerns. "I find the communication breakdown at the Melbourne football club extraordinary," Wilson said on Nine's Footy Classified on Monday night. "What is baffling to me is that Christian Petracca addressed his teammates this morning, for the first time as a group, and talked about the trauma he suffered. "I'm staggered that players didn't know that Christian Petracca had gone up to Noosa for a month, because he was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, if that's what it was, or some form of stress and trauma after what had happened to him. "If he's got all these cultural issues with the club, when he addressed the players ... I wish he'd said that. I'm told that he specifically only spoke about what he went through (with his injuries)." Wilson also questioned why Gawn has been withholding information surrounding Petracca's health from his teammates. "How does Max Gawn ... keep his teammates in the loop about how Christian is going? About why he's gone to Noosa?" she said. "Petracca is their greatest player, their Norm Smith Medallist. Do you find it a bit odd? It is unusual for a footy club to not be communicating to that degree? "This is a playing group that has won a flag together. How does the playing group not know about this situation?" And it's not just on Gawn to be keeping the group informed, according to Matthew Lloyd. "It's on everyone. It's on the head of football, Alan Richardson, it's on Gary Pert, the CEO," Lloyd said.

The Redlegs had been fruitlessly searching for a star forward all season and finally found one in first gamer Davie from the Melbourne Juniors who was also his team’s best player followed by Thomas and Chadwick while his six goals remains the club record for a player on debut. In the following season in a game against Carlton at Princes Park, Davie kicked 13 goals and 5 behinds, the record at that ground and the equal most by a player against Carlton anywhere, a feat shared with both Tony Lockett and Tony Modra in the 1990s. This was also the Melbourne Football Club record until 1947 when Fred Fanning bagged 18. Davie twice kicked over 50 goals in a season and topped Melbourne's goalkicking in 1925 and 1927. The home side was lucky to be in front at quarter time after kicking the last goal, but on the back of a strong ruck performance Melbourne kicked seven goals to two with the wind in the second term to open up 23 point lead at the main break. Essendon reeled that lead down to 9 points at three quarter time and during the break Melbourne’s Hugh Dunbar collapsed and was carried from the field, Miraculously, he recovered to play a prominent part in the finish, kicking one of his team’s two goals with the wind to Essendon’s one in the final term.
