"AT LEAST PRETEND YOU ARE TRYING" PMSL

Featured Replies

Do you think it will have gotten through to the players? Do you think they would be out on the field going "yep, some 16 year old twerp has put up a big banner. I'm definitely going to try much harder now!"

It defies logic that you could see this as constructive in any way. There's only two possible ways the players would react to this. The seasoned, thick skinned players would just dismiss it without giving it another thought. The more sensitive players might see it and want to ram it down the throat of the little [censored] who put it up. It's not that the players aren't trying, and it's utterly insulting to the players to suggest they're not. That's about the most simplistic view there is, and it's wrong.

I doubt these kids were looking to "get through" to the players anyway. More likely they were just seeking attention. Well it worked.

Can't argue with any of that.

IMO here are a couple of 'supporters' who the night before a game sat down and worked out how they would 'support' and they chose to do this!! Pathetic really and it reflects badly on them and every supporter of the club. I was below the banner and it is fair to say that had I seen it I would have gone up and tried to take it down myself.

For too long MFC have overinflated the values of our "Stars", this simply conveys what we are feeling.

Its more than time that we have a culture that will not accept the crap that was served up again on the weekend.

What does it say about our culture that 'supporters' sit down the night before a game and make a banner like that?

from 2 hurting passionate young supporters.... I know how they feel.

So why do you think they hurt anymore than the rest of us?

And what justifies them to publicly ridicule players of behaviours that clearly are not the case and at time where their support is needed they undertake a cheap "look at me" effort which does sweet FA for the team?

We all feel rotten about how MFC are going...they're not special. Their puerile act shows them up for their lack of knowledge of what is actually happening, pleasures the small minded and just adds to the kick in the guts that everyone feels around the Club.

They must feel hypocritical wearing an MFC jumper doing that or did they just borrow them to be noticed?

Maybe they are just giving them a messege.

To put it in terms you might relate better to, would you do something like this to your kid or be happy for your dad to do it you?

It mystifies me why people in this day and age continue to think they will get the best out others through humiliation, intimidation or abuse.

I can't believe people are having a crack at these kids.

It was funny because it was true.

Some of our un-forced turnovers were dispicable on the weekend.

I also applaud that bloke who had a crack at the players as they were walking off the ground after the Bulldogs game. These players must know were hurting. It's easy for them, they get their 250K whilst playing playstation every second afternoon, while we battle through another week of work, looking forward to our 2 and a half hours of footy for the weekend...only for them to dish up that rubbish.

People react to different situations in different ways. Its certainly something I would never do. But I would prefer being labelled as "passionate" rather than the general impression that the rest of the community has of the MFC and its supporters.

The banner doesn't reveal much at all other than there's supporters who are hurting at the moment.

Get angry!!!!

What do you think half the people are doing on demonland/ demonology? Nearly every thread (Actually probably every thread) people are publicly ridiculing players.

These kids had the balls to do it in the flesh, unlike you keyboard heroes.

Get a grip.

I agree with your comments about some of the posts here. Some of the ridicule is uniformed and insulting of players.

However, because of the venue chosen and the nature of the poster, I thought that it was more insulting than some of the forgettable comments here.

There was nothing heroic or brave about what they did.

Great sign, and very true

To those who were offended, grow some balls
