Looks like the Tigers are pretty interested in Trent Cotchin. He's been training there for the last few weeks. Damn!!!! So much for the "Morton brothers to Tigers , Weagles to pick a local WA lad, leaving the dees to pick up Cotchin" theory. Damn!!! Damn!!!!

Given that Cotchin was never going to slide to us anyway, I think we should be happy about this. It gives us a crack at Morton.

I am pretty sure that that's not the case, I think that potential draftees(apart from F/S) are not able to train at clubs as this would be considered draft tampering. He may have trained there earlier in the year as part of some kind of AFL scheme, but only undrafted players after the national draft and before the preseason draft train at clubs and even then Cotchin wouldn't be allowed because he has another year of eligibility at U18 level.

He trained there at the start of the year when the AFL sends potential draftee's out to clubs for a few weeks.

Sorry, you guys are right. I found this article in the Herald Sun and skimmed over it, missing the finer points.

he will go to the toygs, l reckon we will get Morton

Yeah anyone that goes to the National Draft Camp or a state screening is not allowed to train at an AFL club. I'll chuck it in the other thread too but this is why Stefan Martin from Sandringham is not training with Melbourne as he went to the state screening.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.

The Demons were sloppy all day and could not stop the run and carry of the fast moving Hawthorn as the Hawks cruised to an easy 36 point win. Is the season over yet?
