...aka, another (mini) quiz. It is - in my albeit poorly populated and managed mind - a little 'fun fact'.

Not a team or squad this time; rather, a couple of individuals for whom you need to find what combination of personal and playing features links them.

I've discovered that, in 2023, across all of both our AFL and AFLW lists, only MICHAEL HIBBERD and CLAYTON OLIVER had the combination.

Then Michael retired, so, in 2024, only CLAYTON OLIVER had the combination.

But then, in 2025, MOLLY O'HEHIR joined us; so, with CLAYTON OLIVER, we were back to two.

That was short lived. Clarrie has left us, and now only MOLLY O'HEHIR has the combination.

What is that combination?

There are now two notes I must make:

  1. Answers by PM only

  2. Apologies @Cranky Franky

Not totally surprisingly, @Demonstone has cracked this one first. Well done him! - again! 😄

The 'personal' and 'playing' characteristics are both very visible and obvious, as in not hidden or subtle.

Anyone else, then?

I was going to say it was 'premiership player plus annoying little moustache' but as a still teenage girl Molly will probably need to invest time and effort on both counts.

@Demonstone has caught me out! (at least I know this one piqued his interest enough to do some more research😉)

LACHIE HUNTER made for a threesome with Clarrie and Pig in 2023, and a duo with Clarrie in 2024.

As HOMER SIMPSON might have said,...

'A dozen times, D'oh!'

A new player, I think, has entered the Puzzledom fray and with great success: well done @Domgus Petrogan, for finding the link.

I hope recognition, praise and the admiration of your Demonland peers suffice, Dom; my cupboard of creative digital prizes is finally bare!

And another new player (I think?) has joined us, and likewise with great success: well done @Mickey!

My faith in Demonland Puzzledom is returning; I may have to source a new suite of prizes for that cupboard?

@deemoralizing67 has also had his investigative juices stirred and, kudos to him, found another player who briefly qualified in his 2 games for us in 2019 (though this is back beyond the 2023-onwards window I chose for my 'fun fact'*): KADE KOLODJASHNIJ.

(* A PhD awaits anyone prepared to research our lists all the the way back to 1912)

Can't help myself...

I've stuck my own head into 'O Week' for the PhD, to find that, in that 1912 list, there is a qualifier: BOBBY MONK.

Interestingly, that year he kicked 9 goals in 2 x 9 = 18 games.

So much to learn about our Grand Old Club 😊

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
