Especially galling since it's round 1, which is AFL round 2 (opening round notwithstanding), and there are 4 byes????

The result of when you don't care and put donkeys in charge. Hmm that's probably an insult to Donkeys.

Bye round 2 what a friggen basket case competition!😡

The whole comp doesn't start till the third game of the seniors.

I just went to the mfc site. No mention of anything about the reserves/ Casey side. Zero, no draw, nothing about players. Speaks volumes!

Maybe waiting for the full draw to be released?

Apparently the salary cap for an aligned VFL club is around $110k with a non aligned club at around $250k.

The salary cap in the GNFL is $120k but I suspect only a few players are paid.

VFL is not really the big time or anywhere close to it for most players. The SANFL salary cap for a non aligned club is $360k.

Why so many byes when there are an even number of teams?!

Drives me insane! Impossible to get games in returning players or youngsters

The byes are the problem far too many. I think having a lot of teams in the comp doesn't effect the comp too much but the byes are ridiculous. Have the same rounds and the same byes as the AFL.

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.
