7, 8, 15 for Trac, 24, 28, 43 seems fair.

If we end up agreeing to something that appears 'unders', it is clear the club see him staying around as untenable. It suggests club and teammates do not really want him around which says everything really.

You could say that the club were tired of Trac asking for a trade 2 years running, but you can't conclude that his teammates don't want him around. As a footballer, he's been a total pro.

Sadly, mo64, it’s much more likely than not that he’s lost the support of his teammates. Yes, he’s nothing if not ultra professional and no matter what guernsey he wears next year you’re guaranteed he’ll give his all, because that’s the kind of person he is. But even just one player being on the outer in the locker rooms (so to speak) isn’t conducive to a successful team.

We let Barassi go in '65, now we are (possibly) letting Petracca go in 2025. I smell a rat.

Its the only way to break the curse! First you must sack the first coach to take you to a premiership since the great man, then you trade our only NS medalist like when Barassi left.

The the clincher is in five months when we rehire Goodwin!

Yeah a member of the Dees leadership was reported - via an article by Mark Robinson - as saying in 2024 that it would be better if Tracc left.

What can we do? He wants out, 7 & 8 is as good an offer as we can get really.. we aren't desirable enough to have good players want to come to us, it is what it is.

'It is what it is' - is that you Neeldie?

And even if he hadn't, he almost certainly has now.

It's all very well arguing over whether or not King wants him at the Dees, the one person who's made it plain that he doesn't want to be here is Trac himself.

We move on.

Petracca as with Oliver are stranded assets which are worthless to the club and bleed money for many years. Like owning once prime land that is poisoned and unusable but costs more than it’s worth to clean up. No amount of chest thumping by fans will realise their former true value. These double mill stones are sucking the life out of the club and any half reasonable offer is worth it to move them on. Unfortunately we are at the stage where losses must be cut in order to move on.

If Petracca was a golfer or tennis player I would consider him a consummate pro but in a team sport and not buying into the team ethos diminishes his standing.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
