Thanks for reaching out to me about this @Norm Smith's Curse. It's added a lot of value and you're really taking it to the next level man.

You've done this before...haven't you 😉

I'll rest my case on this point...m go re-watch the last qtr of the st Kilda game. How you miss scoring from that position beggars belief

I remember that error well. I think that one and the one against Collingwood in the last stick in our minds and were no doubt bad and costly errors but they are probably harshly criticed relative to the countless turnovers by other players this year purely because of the state of the game at the time. The same supporters saying how bad Oliver’s disposal is want Rivers and Sparrow to be given more time in the middle which makes no sense.

btw I never mentioned anything about Oliver’s disposal or decision making in my original post here. It’s not his strong suit (by foot anyway) but he’s far from our worst.

For those of us that dont want him gone, lets just hope that none of the deals are very appealing to us.

I really dont see how any of them would be.

I love Clayton Oliver as much as anyone, but the obvious and appealing part to the deal is getting over half of his absurd salary off our books.

What we get back in return almost pales into insignificance - we won't be contending in the near future with or without him. We have been hamstrung in the free agency, other contract negotiations, and trade period talks for far too long by these monster contracts offered (rightly) to trac and clarry. With diminishing returns and out of contention we need to clear house and get back on track.

We want him gone and are paying half his wage, this doesn't get walked back. He's 100% goneski. Pour a drink and crack out the highlights.

Again I will ask, who from the club said we'd be prepared to pay half his salary? It keeps getting stated on here, but has the Club actually said this?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
