He reminds me of Heath Shaw a bit - get the ball in his hand and it results in low trajectory bullet passes

Should be pushing to be first option rebounder going forward

Yesterday wasn’t his best game but I’ve seen enough in his last 6 games to feel comfortable with the pick. He won’t be a star but he’ll be a good solid player with great character.

And I largely agree on your summary of his strengths.

I'd add that if he can really get to work in the gym he has the sort of build to be a real power player.

That's to say with his weaknesses (doesn't appear super athletic, doesn't get big disposal numbers, isn't super quick or an aerobic beast) he really needs to be an impact player with tricks and x factor to be best 22 at AFL level.

He needs to kick the occasional bag, go on a 10 minute tear and dominate, turn a game around, kick a team lifter - a difference maker.

Which is what I had hoped see in the final against Frankston.

A good comparison to the sort of player I'm thinking of is Cam Raynor.

Key will be him getting super fit - I get he had an interrupted preseason but he has just finished his second full season and he looks a ways off optimal shape.

This preseason and early next season will tell a tale of where he is really at.

As much as I am a Demons fan I was born and raised in Frankston and it makes me very happy to see the Dolphins get some success as it is has not been an easy road for the team

We have a list management department to ... manage the list. As always, the coach has input (as do others) but he isn't the last word, nor the first.

It's not the coach who decides who comes and goes, though I realise that this another of those Demonland myths.

In any case, a lot of these list management/delisting decisions would have been made some time ago, even as far back as last season. The players themselves would know who they are.

Interesting that Southport inflicted a second finals thrashing on Frankston in today’s VFL Preliminary Final with an 88 point win. The only outlier of the finals for the Dolphins was the Casey Demons game from last weekend when Casey lost their spark and inexplicably gave away nine unanswered goals in the second and third quarters.
