It seems anyone over the age of 24 cops the blame for everything wrong with our team

haha sure

Bit hard to blame players with less than 50 games experience isn't it?

Are you and BrownlowBruce related? :o

As the cat is out of the bag - BrownlowBruce mentioned this to me:

We dont blame players with 50 games or less we just make them captain eg Brock

who was made captain after how many games?

um...hmm let me guess...the player that cost us a goal

he had not played LESS than 50 games

If ever there was a time to dispose of the ball properly, it was with 30 secs to go.

Oh back off. What about the 37 point head start, what about McLean getting tackled 10 meters out in the last quarter instead of just handballing it through for a point. What about the umpiring decision regarding Bruce?? Don't blame Browny because we lost. He has been a brilliant player for our club and along with Neitz and Robbo formed the "trifecta" of Neale's favourites at the club.

Not trying to make excuses for him, but maybe his foot is still bothering him?

I saw him quite clearly limping last night in the first quarter after he put on a chase. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that he is getting injected before matches.

Yeah, wouldn't be surprised if he does have something bothering him.

However the way he delivers the ball - quite low - does give opposition the opportunity to intercept it.

I don't think his pace is an issue either, but he isn't Davey. He shouldn't try to slip past 2 big defenders. He doesn't have the pace to burn players off is what I'm saying.

For sure, once again I don't disagree - just wouldn't class it as a negative.

I'm sorry, but I can't bear to watch Nathan Brown in Melbourne colours anymore, he was terrible all night, he has to realise his time is up and leave the arena NOW!!!!!!.

Blokes like C Johnson, Buckley, Frawley, Dunn, Garland and Warnock should all be in front of him now

dragging the ball in on friday night was a shocker...and i certainly dont think he has the skills to continue playing at this level... but he always gave his all, and i love any player who u can see hates losing so much (eg. robbo)and he was obviously shattered friday night...daniher was the the one who continued selecting him, all he could do was give his all, and he did. But it is time to move him on.

Brown was terrible all night but he wasn't the only reason why we lost it in the last minute there were a few reasons.

a) We are undoubtably the worst team at slowing down the game we always turn it over.

B) Jones's handball into the middle of the ground when we should of be heading for the boundary.

c) Davey's handball to Brown was pathetic either kick it or try to handball it properly don't do a fancy undrground handball where it can bounce anywhere. Until Davey can get that type of play out of his game playing in the midfield he will not improve as a midfielder that is forward pocket stuff leave that in the forward line not the midfield.

d) What Bizzell done was the exact reason why I lost faith in him. When you leave your man to go in a pack you make sure you belt the crap out of it what did Bizzell do he went to the pack got nowhere near it and left Lucas all by himself that is as disgraceful as falling over in a contest that is inexcuseable yes Brown should not play a game again but we should be saying the same about Bizzell.

If Bizzell had not have gone for the punch and an Essendon player had of marked it, people would be having a go at him for not going the spoil.

It was a risk he had to take.

EDIT: His actual attempt wasn't the best, seeing as the ball went through the pack, but I think that the idea was right.

I think if you are playing on a player as dangerous Lucas you should stay on him and if Essendon kicked a goal anyway so be it, he should have been doing his job which was to stop Lucas if he had I wouldn't be blaming him.

I also think the early injury to Bell cost us as much as anything on the night, if not more - he seemed to have the measure of Lucas for the brief period he was covering him.... Yet it does not seem to rate a mention, I guess it's easier to bag players. More fun perhaps.

  • 6 years later...

Couldn't find another thread related to the Brown Dog so thought I'd bump this.

I just saw Nathan Brown and Daniel Ward having a chat in the Australia On Collins foodcourt. I often see Brown around that area, on Collins near the corner of Elizabeth. Both look pretty fit.

I guess the reason I'm telling everyone this is because seeing those two has brought on a strange, uncomfortable sense of nostalgia, as I long for the Daniher days of yore.

Maybe because the success of the 00s was my first (and only) experience of sustained Demons success?

Either way I thought they were fine contributors in the Daniher days (despite the negativity of this thread) and it makes me sad to think I look back on those days like as if they were 10 years ago.

Oh wait, they were...
