Last time I ever sit in the members

I sit in the mcc week in, week out. And i like to think i buck the trend when it comes to mcc supporters.

Because a considerable amount are just plain stupid.

I am fed up with supporters moaning and groaning whenever Ward, Bell, Green and to a lesser extent Brown stream out of the backline to have absolutely no options at CHF to kick to. Yesterday, on countless occasions we'd burst out of our defensive 50m and be confronted with Hamish McIntosh and another of the Roos' midfielders across our half-forward line, forcing our rebounding defenders to go short, sideways or backwards. This is greeted with jeers and mumurs of discontent with the un 'football' educated supporters of the mcc and surrounding areas.

'Kick it long!'

'stop mucking around'

Dumb supporters. They've got no option to kick to.

Why kick it a 3 on 1??

I'd rather see us kseep hold of the footy, then kick to the 3 on 1 and watch the defenders have the ball sail over their heads on the rebound.

This is why i like Doggy Brown, he consistently plays on and breaks the lines, kicking it over CHF and thus eradicating this dilema (sp?)

Had we the skill and pace of the Bulldogs, we could afford to play on at all cost, 'run and carry', so to speak. But we don't and thus are compelled to chip it short and wait for a better option.

Rant over.

sorry ward bell green and brown are serial offenders and nathen jones has been watching them for too long

This is one of my biggest peeves. I have no problem if the ball is kicked sideways or backwards for almost all day, as long as the target is found. I am sick to death of calls for a long kick when the ball is in the backline. The worst thing to do in that position is to kick it long and hope for the best, because as you say that is the best opportunity the opposition has for a turnover and a quick goal It's not just in the MCC but the old red seats as well. The players deserve support when they are playing smart football, not discouragement and consequently encouragement of stupid football.

there is a simple reason why miller received a bronx cheer from some areas in the crowd - he did and has been playing appalling football - how he still musters a game at the moment is incredible. if we are going to lose why not give a player like Newton a go. How could he fail more than Miller, who has virtually no presence on the football field. He aggravates supporters with his lack of presence on the field, and we need and demand a lot more from him. Just accept the frustration of supporters, because i guarantee there are plenty of moments the coaches lose there cool with the players too.

i wonder why people groan at the sideways kicking when it results in us kicking

FOUR GOALS IN 3 QUARTERS/?!??! i wonder why they were frustrated!

far out, did no body see when we actually backed ourselves we kicked 7 goals in a row. yet you whinge about people speaking their minds, then complain at them for not being real supporters. what exactly do you want them to do? support, or only call out deeply thought out page long diatribes about the game.

now i probably sound like an idiot at the footy, and i swear half the stuff i was yelling out in the last quarter was backwards because of the heat of it all, but far out, if our supporters made more noise every time they felt something, people would be more willing to go to melbourne matches.

no wonder so many dees supporters don't go, they probably get frustrated, call out what they think, then get yelled out by people like you guys.

if you don't want people with different opinions, watch it at home, otherwise, just call out your own opinions, any noise is good noise.

I sat in M47 - the MCC - for the first time this year. Normally I don't due to the fact many of my mates don't have MCC, but I took the chance this week to take up the best seats in the house just in front of the Long Room.

The supporters are mainly the older generation - who are much less likely to be carrying on and screaming anyway.

Many of these people were about 20 or 30 during the Glory Years of the '60's, so it must be remembered that they have stuck around this team for a great deal longer than many others, such as myself, and experienced many years of hard ship.

I have no issue with the fact they aren't loud, but I do have an issue with people like Y_M complaining about them.

The MCC, or at least, the second level of it, is not going to be a rowdy, loud cheering area. The Southern Stand members area, or the pocket of the Olympic Stand is. Please go there, and do not whinge about the MCC supporters.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
