Chopper Carrol

As I much as I love the Chopper he has got to get rid of that head band.

He was one of the toughfest, meanest backmen in 2006. He looked tough and mean back them and he scared the opposition with his looks and hairstyle.

Circa 2007 and Chopper appears with this Beckham type headband

Please Chopper, ditch the head band and I'm sure the team will turn tough with you. (except Brad Miller) fancing droping Holland and keeping Miller in the side. What was ND thinking?

I like the Chopper look.......nothing wrong with a bit of character in the team!

Another thread that belongs on Bigfooty.

Id be more concerned about the fact that he has conceded the most goals of any full back in the comp.

He need to lose the headband and find some touch; he seems to have forgotton how to punch a ball.

When will ND learn that Carrol is not a key back. He is a half back flanker.

I feel sorry for him, when your midfield is getting smash and turning the footy over like we have been for the past 8 weeks no Key defender would be able to stop their oponent.

agreed. also the absence of Rivers has a huge impact.

Rivers reads the play well and manages to float across the HB line and help out. Without him Chopper is forced to try limit a firing forward who is getting ample supply from a dominant midfield.

The midfield is where we lost the match... and a lack of accountable defenders did not help brown and ward were shocking...

I thought Chopper was well beaten but he never really had a chance.

Judd summed it up best - thought the use of the ball going into the forward line was pretty good!!

Um yep - lace up onto the Lynch's chest time and time again..... 5 goals and 7 behinds and 1 out of bounds on the full.... that is not a bad afternoon's work!!

Has it also emphasised the importance of Jared Rivers??

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
