IN: MARK WILLIAMS, OUT: NEALE DANIHER

Featured Replies

Nathan Buckley would be ideal, he is a true leader of men and one of the best football brains going around.

*Vomits

Where I come from I would get kicked out of home for barracking for Collingwood, so I absolutely do not want a hack like Buckley coaching. Or for that matter a complete idiot like Mark Williams. Gary Lyon has no experience. Essendon has stuck with Sheeds through thick and thin we can do the same have some patience!

And spare me the diatribe about how great Buckley is please

Buckley is a hack?

yeah that brownlow was a complete fluke.

Mark Williams an idiot?

do you have any idea what you are talking about?

I think Mark Williams would be good for the role. would rather him chosen than buckley or voss.

I think that they should take assistant coaching roles at other clubs to get more of an idea about coaching before jumping headlong into a full coaching position.

Bigpond your picture is horrible and i think Matty Whelan would be horrified if he thought you were honoring him for that.

I'm with you Davis......

It was awful at the time, and the horrible result was not the intention, and should not be honoured.

Add me to the condemnation list........the pic is in poor taste Bigpond........something I'd expect from a Pies supporter, not an MFC supporter!

Gary O'Donnell!! Mathews right hand man for the last 7+ years. Also if he could bring Voss on as the midfield coach, that would be a huge plus (haven’t been happy with the skills and direction of the mid field under Williams, not saying its all him but we did see immediate results when Ratten came in, was hoping for the same under Williams)

This comes from a former Lions Board member - Lethal told the board that in his opinion Gary, whilst being a great assistant and a having a very good football brain, would never make it as a senior coach. He said that Gary was not good at making the "hard" decisions, and did not deliver 'bad news' to players at all well. He felt that he was too 'sentimental' to make hard headed decisions.

Just because ur opinion differs to mine does not mean I do not know what I am talking about?

Buckley is so overrated its not even funny. And I know many Melbourne supporters that also think Mark Williams is an idiot. Sorry I dont rate Buckley there are far better players in the competition than him

I dont know any MFC supporters who think OUR Mark Williams is an idiot! Perhaps you are thinking or PT Adelaide's coach Mark 'Choco' Williams???

How can a coach who has just won a hatrick of premierships be an idiot????

OUR Mark has been very impressive close up in particular after the last 2 Premierships. He has spoke very well at the celebrations after the GF wins and clearly very well respected by his players.

He is certainly more experienced and would be a surer oprion than punting on any of Buckley, Voss or G Lyon noe of whom have done any coaching apprentiship (similar risk to the Saints going with Timmy Watson c.f. R Lyon, J Longmire, M Harvey etc.)

I do agree with you that buckley is overated.

But he still is an awesome player. certainly not a hack.

your allowed to your opinion yes.

and its my opinion that you dont know what your talking about.

Can you please tell me why you think Mark Williams is an idiot?

Bigpond. thanks for taking the picture down. it was for the best.

I think that Melbourne should get Guy McKenna in - he was a premiership player, a stright shooter, and tough. He also would bring a group of people needed to get the current culture in the club right.

I saw Mark Williams today. I have to say, he is enourmous; the guy must work out heaps. Seriously. The guy is massive...

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
