Magnificent recruitment and development from the club. Pick 19 is a steal.

Jacob looks a great prospect. And critically he has that insane will to compete and win. That celebration after his goal was so good.  He wants this bad and he is as tough as nails.

Maybe it's a bit early to be saying this but I reckon that Blake Howes at Pick 39 in the same (2021) draft will prove to be even more of a steal.

Loved the building game of JVR and looking forward to seeing how he goes against imo a close checking in form Murphy. Strong hands can get it done but Murphy puts a heavy body on and makes it tough.

Regarding McVee, I feel he’s loving Salem in the side and suspect Salem is loving it too. An apprentice pushing his master to show off what can be done. But on topic, McVee is unlikely to get a nomination nod unless there’s a slow week and they want to reward a solid season. Maybe a 20 touch game at 90%+ efficiency in the last three rounds once all the potential winners have been named. No insult intended, just the reality that his position is rarely glamourised.

Judd McVee has to get the nod at some stage for a first year player giving consistent AFL-standard performances in such a high pressure position.  Never seems flustered.

Hope you are right - tbh I'm struggling to see it myself.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
