Pickett....laserated ear

had his ear cut off

Knowing our luck, he'll get done for that tackle on Kayne 'I'm a mummy's boy' Cornes.

You watch, if there is a way to suspend him, they'll find it.

There is no way he will go for that - Cornes knocked himself out when his head hit the ground. Byron's tackle was a tough and completely legitimate one - the kind I used to hate and boo him for......before he played for us - now I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

A bit harsh on Cornes. He's a terrific footballer.

We can only hope that the ear injury keeps him out next week, although it didn't stop Chopper. Pickett is a liability. Other than the tackle on Cornes, did he do anything right today?

Comrades, I would not worry about it all too much. Old Man Cornes is none too concerned as he chews his tobacco out on the verandah and gets stuck into the Beff Jerky. In addition to his two sons already galloping around, he also has Cletus Cornes, Hezekiah Cornes and Ezekial Cornes all lined up to don a Port jumper.

Biffinator.

I'll be disgusted if Byron gets weeks after Burgoyne almost decapitates a sainter in the wet, Headland thumps somebody, admits it and gets off, Goodes punches somebody from behind and it's okay, Hodge puts a player out for a month and gets off... oh the list goes on.

The way Channel 7 were calling it though, you'd think he picked him up and threw him head-first into the fence!

demon josh i didnt think he did too badly. he is never going to be one of our big possie winners, but he is about impact. a few possies, the big tackles. he looks fat, but he is quick when he needs to be and i thought he looked alright today. he is a match winner, and a big game player who adds toughness to our side. im a believer that we need him in. he will only get better...

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
