I think you've sold a few short there.

Travis Johnstone would be a handy addition on the wing & Jeff White would be a pretty option replacement for Luke Jackson?

Unfortunately for Trapper he was all one way, when he was hot he was white hot, his foot skills would have been a dream in our line up no doubt.

When he wasn't he was a liability, didn't tackle or apply any sort of pressure this all has to be put into the equation.

He wouldn't have had half the work rate without the ball of the modern wingman ala Langers or Gussy could you see him dropping into holes and protecting our defence? No chance.

As for Jeff White he was a premier ruckman in his time and i just couldn't see him taking the mantle off Gawny as our figurehead.

As for Action yes currently Jeff is granted a better ruckman than what Action is at this point in time, but thats not his major role in the side.

Jacko is our 2nd ruck who spends around 20-30% of a game time in our forward line something Jeff never did much of.

Plus Action is excellent below his knees once the ball goes to ground and his agility around the contest is also a major weapon.

Don't need 2004 to remind them, just look back to 2020 Cairns 2 game debacle and last round 2017 vs Pies which both cost them playing finals!

The AFL's finest hour giving us two games in Cairns' monsoonal weather.

They couldn't give a toss about us last year.

Cool, but also if they don’t fall over does that not mean that we as a supporter base can officially trust the club, and give it more credit?

Just trying to understand how this all works. What an exciting time to be a supporter! So much on the line.

Older supporters like myself who have seen brief final appearances and seen them climb the mountain so far but fall off the cliff....This is essentially the same group that blew it last year in Cairns debacle cost them finals and yes absolutely secure a top 4 spot this year and will give them credit but even more so winning the flag!

No that was when we smashed Adelaide in '98 who then side-stepped us through to the GF. Taken from Dud AFL Finals Fixturing, Vol 1, P1.

I'm not concerned about all this talk of not showing up and then beaten by Crows, Magpies and Giants, then drawing with Hawks.

After all - we won't be playing any of them in the finals anyway. Our games will be against other teams in the 8 and we've beaten them all.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
