they've already had 2 "byes", so lets give them another bye this weekend. just because we can.....ffs

i really wonder about the intelligence of some afl/vfl administrators

the vfl fixturing and scheduling has been a joke for quite a few years, especially given it is the development process for the supposedly most professional (and profitable) football organisation in the country

words just fail me

Why would you start an East coast competition in this year of covid when you could  bet the house on there being travel problems between states. As you say DC words fail me.

I think there are team i.e interstate ones that would have played 2-3 games more thanCasey . No need for Casey to have a bye , the dopey Afl/Vfl clowns need to fix this problem. Covid is always going be turned on when it suits them.

As others have noted the Vic Government are completely shambolic. This week you can hit up a brothel for an orgy with 100 women but cant go play a VFL game with 43 other guys. Although I would quite fancy the former the rules all just make no sense.

How does the braintrust running the VFL factor in catch up games. Example Southport have played 8 matches whilst Casey have played only 5 matches. Why did we (MFC) need a bye ? does not make sense.

It appears that Casey has a bye round 17. Does anyone know if the VFL are going to implement catch up matches?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
