Oppo Analysis

Featured Replies

I've noticed that a lot of the Dees podcast/media material focusses on Melbourne's own strengths/weaknesses etc.  Was wondering what the appetite might be for a thread on "opposition" analysis.

I've been tossing up the merits of doing a video podcast focussing specifically on our main opposition (Bulldogs, Richmond, Port etc) with an angle of their strengths/weaknesses vis a vis the Demons.

What do people think? Is there enough even to start a small space on DL for this sort of discussion.  The reason I've become interested in this sort of thing, as i've noticed that there are some popular narratives around certain teams and the way they play and I want to see whether that stacks up when we look at footage and statistics. And, if it is true, what does it mean for our system and the way that we like to play?

Love it - and desire wise, it's helpful if it looks at things a la the Game Plan/Tactics and all the Jazz thread, rather than regurgitating stats.

Great idea. I havent seen Adelaide once this year. Was perusing their big footy site and didn't get much intel on howthey play etc. It was mostly about how they play 1 KD short.

That may not work out well for them this week. Also how most didn't want Tex rushed back inti the side this week.

Woud be interested in oppo research

  • GAMEDAY: Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG after a dismal performance in Gather Round to face the reigning dual Premiers Brisbane. What do expect to see from the Dees today?

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.

Melbourne’s much vaunted finishing power evaporated at Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon, exposed for the third time in four years by its Essendon Gather Round hoodoo.
