Great ep so far. Still listening. I'm going to disagree with @binman RE KPFs and pressure. I'd be happy with 2 or 3 tackles from Brown and Weideman, providing they're kicking 2-3 goals a game and bringing the ball to ground.

Weideman was ordinary in the Casey game at applying defensive pressure, but when on song in the big time, his tackling is just as tough as Lynch or Riewoldt for Richmond. Brown just needs to match that.

McDonald is a bit different given he hasn't been kicking big bags. His value is pressure and providing a focal target up the ground when we need it from defence.

Not sure I agree with you, Bin RE ANB not going out all year. If he plays another game or two like the North game soon, he'll be out. If you look back at his career to date, Goodwin definitely backs him in, but you can have all the pressure acts in the world, but he didn't lay a tackle. His KPIs would definitely include tackle count. He stays in this week IMO because he has credits in the bank this season. We need ANB of Rounds 1-6 though, because he's been a real asset and kicked some clutch goals.

Thanks again, Andy. Another winner.

@binmanmentioned AFL provision. Could someone point me to that, please?

Here we go FD:

You have the option of watching highlights or extended (which is every single involvement). I recommend extended as tbey give a better sense of a player's game.

For example melksham's highlights go for 2 mins and extended 11 mins!

I just watched melksham's involvements.

He had a pretty serviceable game i have to say. His best this season.

Two beautiful kicks - one to Brown on the lead and one to max on the lead

G'day guys,

Just wanted to say 'thanks' for all your efforts in putting the pod together every week, it's certainly something I look forward to - and not just because we are winning at the moment!

I know it must be a big effort and commitment to put it on every week and its very much appreciated.

Thanks again

Thanks Andy, George and Bin. Great knowledge, insight and balance.  A million miles ahead of the general football media.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
