Does anyone think benny c looks like iceman from topgun on a unrelated matter??

Fitting that, going by what I've heard.

Daniel Kerr, you stuff up your next!

Is this blind optimism Storm? The Eagles only acted against Cousins because he is basically telling the club to get stuffed and not going to training.... I have no faith that if Kerr was caught again or another Eagles player for that matter they would adopt the same weak as puss stance they have in the past.

A VERY sad day for football :-(

Whatever you care to say about the individual, no one can deny that he is an out and out star of the game.

i think that kerr will now see what happened to cousins and it will change him, the eagles wont tolerate any more behavior like this , the afl has wanted them to take action for a while and they have now

Edit: Got in first Demonstorm.

West Coast could provide some really good material for the writers of 'The Bold & The Beautiful'.

You have to feel sorry for Cousins as an individual, but the club really hasn't got a clue. To let so many players go off the rails in the way they have, and sit on your hands until the absolute last minute, is very poor management. It should never have come to this!

You have to applaud John Warsfold though for getting that rabble of a side of win a flag, and you also have to wonder what West Coast could achieve had they not had to deal with so many off-field issues.

Having said all that, I couldn't care less how these issues affect them in 2007. If they're a rabble, that's one less serious threat we need to worry about. Somehow though, I think that the remaining midfield of Judd, Cox, Kerr and Embley (assuming the last two don't go and kill themselves or someone else  ), will still win a fair few games.

Spiritual Leader ...

Thanks for the link. Hadn't read that before. To me the comments from Nesbitt just prove what a rabble they are off the field. Publicly stripping Cousins of the captaincy but then more or less saying Judd is just there to toss the coin. No wonder they can't keep Cousins on the straight and narrow, they think the sun shines from him!

I don't see how it will effect WCE at all.

Cousins is a Brownlow Medallist, Kerr (the other supposed 'troublemaker') also polls highly. Eagles are reigning premiers.

This supposedly bad culture has been going on longer than this week. Only reason Eagles care is because it has got out into the media.

I don't think they would even care if their players were racking up before matches as long as they played to their full ability.

Chris Judd was given the captaincy under odious and awkward circumstances and must feel like a puppet captain. No wonder he is hanging out on his contract negotiations.

If true the Chick and Embley incident is a further evidence of cracks at the Club. Its not good less than 2 weeks before the season starts.

Also, I am not so sure Kerr has learnt anything. A feeble mind could separate Cousin's issues from his own and feel impervious to reality.

I would like Michael Gardiner to say in the Press that "WCE really needed to grow up and get their act together."

Because the difference now is, that Cousins is not playing indefinitely (or even training, meaning he will lose a lot of his base fitness), and you would think that another strike to Kerr will see him out the door indefinitely as well.

If their players don't pull their heads out their proverbial behinds, there is every chance that 3 or 4 more players will join Cousins in 'time out' by the end of the season.

Plus, let us not forget that Chris Judd must not be all that impressed with the current situation at the club.

Not only does he need to lead a pack of men whos heads are in the clouds (quite literally), he may also feel as though he is guilty by association. It is only a matter of time before some stupid journalist starts asking questions about Judd, especially since we have no other explanation for his freakish talents <_< :D

How do you think the other players feel when they are working hard and another player who has had a series of misdemeanours turns up to training when he feels like it?

Team bonding stuff. Just ask Chick and Embley.

Jaded raises a very good point about Worsfold and the onfield discipline being isolated from the player's extra-curricula activities.

As Old has pointed out, the Eagles were prepared to continue to live off the kudos of Cousin's leadership even when it was removed from him for being a naughty boy. I am still not comfortable with the grand final celebration scenes when Chris Judd may as well have been the accidental tourist up there on the dias. So far the Eagles have been able to remove such distractions from on field, but what goes around comes around, if Benny is as important to the Eagles as they keep claiming him to be, this will hurt them, because this issue runs a lot deeper than simply one player and has the potential to implicate a lot more key Eagles.

I think Cousins has lost a lot of focus since his 1% Brother was ousted from the club and he is now a loose cannon. I think the club will move into damage control to minimise the effects, but it will be exceedingly difficult to drag some of the drifting satellites away from the the impending self implosion of the Red Dwarf.

I'm a bit skeptical about this. Expect Cousins to miss round 1, maybe round 2 and 3, and be back in the side by at least round 4 (I expect earlier than this though). This suspension will give him a bit of a jolt, and if rumours are true (none of which have any basis by the way, we're all just hypothesizing at the moment) he should probably be sacked.

But the Eagles were soft on Kerr and will be too focused on winning another flag to waste a talent like Ben Cousins in the stands. It's just a shame that a club with such a [censored]-weak culture has enough talent on its list to win a flag, whilst other clubs with good honest workers like us, the kangas or bullies can't throw around the type of money the Eagles can.

In a one/two team town (?Freo considered a 'Perth' team), these guys are treated like and think they are royalty. It's time they grew up, and the only way they will is if their board hands out harsher penalties to ANYONE caught transgressing (star or not). I have heard numerous stories from people in Perth about the arrogance and behaviour of WCE players out on the town. I may be wrong, but I highly doubt Cousins' punishment will be anywhere near harsh enough. As I said, 1 or maybe two games out and he'll be back again, dominating the competition. And Even if his team-mates do learn a lesson from this (which I hope they do), I still can't see the punishment being much harsher than what I've stated. After all, winning is the name of the game. And West Coast can't afford to lose games - their public will simply not accept it.

This morning on 3AW Andrew Rule said we should expect revelations soon involving "the best footballer in the land". WOW!

I can't believe the comments of the Victorian WCE players' parents this morning in the papers, saying they're "not in the least concerned".

I don't think it's right to say things about the 'ice epidemic' when there is no proof Ben cousins is involved in taking any drugs at the moment. I'm no lawyer, but that could be considered slander or something like that.

And 2nd, I still think he'll be back very soon in Eagles colours unless he's put behind bars.

thread was posted on bigfooty Sunday night asking the question "is there an iceman in the AFL?" before the cousins thing started, saying that it will come out soon. different journo's have stated on radio this week that the difference between ben cousins the brownlow medal winner and his current physical condition over the last week is astounding

andrew rule was hinting at a "rumour" that chris judd has given the WCE board and heirarchy an ultimatium

fix this drug problem, or im not playing for west coast ever again

west coast have a long running issue with drugs, why did andrew embly try to belt daniel chick, whom ben cousins has been staying with recently?

Why would he be put behind bars for taking drugs? Its not really a crime unless he is selling them.

If he has an addiction, which is most likely going by the fact its gone this far (methamphetamines actually have positive effects and leave the body quite quickly for once off and short term users), well then it will take alot longer than a few weeks to get himself right.

Well to say this has been coming for a long time is an understatment, and I just hope that whatever the real problem is (and we can speculate, however accurately, until the cows come home, we don't know the truth) he can now actually get the help that he quite obviously needs.

Call me a bleeding heart if you will, but honestly I hate watching anyone spiral like this (wasted AFL talent aside), and maybe now with this kick up the butt (and I am sorry to be resorting to cliches) he can try to clean himself up. And I really hope he can, becuase it is not an easy road to travel.

As for the Coast, they seem to have real "culture" (for want of a better word) problems that seem to have gone completely unchecked for years (covered up by their success I guess) and have, more or less, let it get this far. Hopefully they will also now try to clean everything up behind the scenes.

Of course all of this is just my opinion :) !!!

By me the best footballer in the land by far is Chris Judd. He's kidding if he thinks he has any dirt on him, isn't he?

haha, juddy is trying to steer himself away from all this nonsense

has given the board an ultimatium, fix it up for everyone, or he will sit out 2007 and be traded/walk out at the end of the year (so the rumour goes)

It has just been announce that Hungry Jacks has withdrawn its sponsorship of the Eagles.

All is not lost though. McDonalds have come on board as their major sponsor. To celebrate the new sponsorship,McDonalds and the Eagles have combined to release a new burger.

The new burger will be called "The McEagle",

and it comes with free coke and ice.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
