This is just inventing what happens in the box, just to suit narrative/agenda. Goody’s started listening to his assistants and now we’re good. Or Goody’s stopped listening to his muppet assistants and become an authoritarian, and that’s what has made us good. Or, the most likely thing, the relationship with the assistants is the same as it always was, and they’ve arrived at the right chemistry by chipping away at the problem together.

We don’t know though, so we shouldn’t guess. In my view if we’re prepared to unreservedly put the blow torch on Goodwin when we’re struggling then we have to be prepared to give him all the credit when we’re flying. Anything otherwise is complete double standards.

For the record, I do neither.

Another ingredient as was pointed out in numerous still images highlighted by many pundits after our loss to Richmond, things were happening on field that weren't anything to do with coaching, more to do with players making poor decisions.

Players have been a lot more composed and made better decisions  however IMO this has to do with coaching as I would consider the playing group have been told not to play on all the time and to take a bit more time with the ball in hand.

Very hard to change what has been ingrained over 3 seasons with the manic gameplan. This has been even harder to change and work on with the covid impact on training sessions.

When the message was conveyed to the playing group to slow down was made who knows, but on the evidence of the last two weeks the playing group has adopted it, but lets see if their poise and decision making remains when we come up against a side who brings a high pressure heavy tackling game.

The consecutive wins Rnd 22 and Elim Final 1990 were special - stopped their run for three premierships in a row. Like Paul Simon's boxer, I take some comfort there.

That, and was it our win in 2017 (or 2016?) which stopped them getting the double chance and they were bundled out of the finals in straight sets. So we have performed some valuable service to the game of Aussie Rules.

Trac and Gawn clearly our best two players on the weekend.

Good to see Sam Frost chatting with a few players after the match. He was ok for the dorks and I cannot remember one clanger or shocking turnover. Kept it steady with 20 metre passes. Certainly no long runs or panic attacks. Maybe they’re dosing him up on Valium!

I was waiting for a big turnover for a goal but didn't come. I remember one horrific kick that somehow stayed in and ended up getting marked by a hawks player (I think Michington) but other than that he was pretty good.

Yep, i thought he had a good game.

One turnover i recall (a kick to Oliver?) but kicking was pretty good.

Took a couple of really nice intercept marks too.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
