I guess we'll find out the effects of crowds on the fortresses.

You can’t build a fortress without fans ?: How every AFL team’s form could be affected by lockout >>> You can’t build a fortress without fans: How every AFL team’s form could be affected by lockout

AFL HOME GROUND ADVANTAGE (Courtesy of Champion Data)

Winning percentage 2015-2019

Geelong @ GMHBA Stadium: 83%

West Coast @ Optus Stadium/Domain Stadium: 80%

GWS @ Giants Stadium and Manuka Oval: 74%

Richmond @ MCG: 76%

Adelaide @ Adelaide Oval: 71%

Western Bulldogs @ Marvel Stadium: 67%

Sydney @ SCG: 62%

Hawthorn @ MCG and Tasmania: 62%

Port Adelaide @ Adelaide Oval: 54%

Fremantle @Optus Stadium / Domain Stadium: 52%

Collingwood @ MCG: 51%

North Melbourne @ Marvel Stadium: 49%

St Kilda @ Marvel Stadium: 48%

Melbourne @ MCG: 45%

Essendon @ Marvel Stadium & MCG: 43%

Brisbane Lions @ Gabba: 35%

Gold Coast@ Metricon Stadium: 29%

Carlton @ Marvel Stadium & MCG: 26%

Be careful with this analysis. MCG is home ground for many teams and so we do not have the same potential advantage as teams who do not share. Look at filth's %. Top four teams have been the standout teams since 2015.

Who would have thought that two guys and a dog would have made such a difference at Giants Stadium?

It should be really interesting to see what happens to West Coast and their magical free kick differential over in Perth.  Maybe without the feral crowd the umpires will be willing to call  a fair game.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
