2019 Player Reviews: #40 Corey Wagner

“He’s nearly the best player in the VFL competition when he plays with us. He had a very consistent year in the VFL and forced his way into the AFL team a few times, and then through hard work he cemented his spot later in the year as a small forward. He has played multiple positions and his finish to the year was really strong, so hopefully he builds on a few things he needs to work on and comes back and keeps his spot in the team.” - Matt Egan MFC Head of Player Development

Certainly is a great 'feeder' within the forward line; seems to pick the ball to deliver quite consistently which is great for Trac, the Melk and TMac. He actually kicks the ball (and gets the ball) reasonably well for one with limited experience with '...our game plan...'

Corey proved himself to be decent depth this year and I am happy to retain him on the basis. He is fine as the 22nd player on the team sheet coming in to perform a specific role. The problem is when injuries hit and suddenly he is the 15th player on the team sheet, as happened several times this year.

Corey showed that he can play at this level and adds good depth to the team, I hope that he has a great 2020 whether at Dee's or Casey.......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Wagners at times tend to watch the game rather than participating.  This is due to lack of experience and perhaps confidence or fitness.  Hope Corey has a great season;  is worth another look.
