you mean while a group of supporters have been jumping up and down whinging saying Goody has no idea, there has been a specific plan in place to benefit Preuss and the team all along?!?  you dont say!

Preuss looked so much better on sunday then he did in NAB and early days.

Jimmy changed the landscape for ruckmen in the late 80's early 90's & was essentially a ruck rover & having Stawbs in tandem gave Jimmy relief in the forward line. It did work well for a while & with the km's needed to survive in today's game, I cant see why the Max/Preuss combo couldn't work.

To those that talk about he would have to spend 40%+ of the time at FF, and doesn't have the speed for the position.    

Given the Melbourne method is to bomb long and high inside 50, usually to about 20 - 30m out, wouldn't this be exactly the type of person we want sitting at FF?  There were times the big fella man handled Kruezer in the ruck and in marking contests.  He lost out a couple, but for the most part he competed or brought it to ground.  I also recall his intro in the NAB was 2 marks on a strong lead, and careening into a big pack... again, exactly what we would ask for? 

While again not quick, I saw a tall bloke that was unafraid to throw his body-weight around to win a ground ball in the centre.  Something that Melbourne have been criticised for inside 50.

Surely they can play in the same team, while he might not get any quicker, the endurance can only improve,  and I've been encouraged by the way he plays.

The Big Man has come from a Rugby League background,  has just turned 24 and has played a handful of games. 

He's also learning from the best in the business. Give him some time to develop for crying out loud. 

I thought he did a great job pretty much rucking alone in his first game back in 10 weeks.

Talk of trading him is laughable really. 

With Tommy Mac out for the year it's worth trialling the two in tandem for a few weeks. Season is cooked, if we can make it work then the back end of this season is where we find out with little consequences given we cannot play finals.
