Dee, you mean minor speculation.

Hogan wanted to go home.

I don''t think that''s speculation but the main  reason,

You are probably correct, it was only a supposition of the smallest order - nothing else. However, it crossed my mind a few months back during and after the 'Jesse silence' on his intentions. TMac, an improved Weed, hot topic of Preuss at the time before selection, rising young bucks from our 'depth' players, etc. Big performances were needed to hold a spot in such competitive arenas made more difficult perhaps with a nasty injury; but I agree with you, a major reason was returning home.

Weideman is going to be a beauty. He has all the physical attributes and skills, and has footy smarts. He seems intelligent, well grounded and level headed. His behaviour and body language on the field is positive and he does the team things well. Also a cool head as we saw in the finals. He’s a team player and seems bonded with his team mates.  The reaction  from his team mates suggested the feeling is mutual.

His attitude and behaviour on the field reminds me a bit of Tom McDonald. He keeps battling irrespective of the score line.

He is going to become a very valuable player and will be chased by other clubs no doubt with Collingwood at the top of the list.

As you can tell, I’m a huge fan.

There was a good little video piece about him one day 1 of preseason. Filmed his day, he lives with Petty and is the senior figure in the house. Makes HP breakfast, makes his bed and is prepared. HP less so haha.

Can't wait to see him in full flight this season, he is going to be a gem.

Not really OD.  PD has explained mainly why but it was your refusal to acknowledge any positive attribute or your willingness to look beyond your singular negatively.  As PD said, we all get it wrong but few have ever bagged a player like you did Weed.

I'll be happy if you learn something from this.  We'll see.

I guess we will.

Old Dee's last comments suggest that he has been to confession and should be given partial absolution.

Not since I was ten and realised the folly of it all Ernest.

That's a pity OD,  we should have a single malt one day and talk about The Creator, but leave aside stories of the confessional and the men in black.

Think it might take more than one Ernest.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
