I will briefly document my experiences with Ladbrokes yesterday. Even just so i can remember it.

It was 10 mins before the All Star Mile yesterday. I attempted to place a 4 leg Multi with the first leg being Mystic Journey in that race. The three subsequent legs were Fifty Stars and two others win place. I placed the bet on my computer which was accepted, confirmed and done. I thought nothing more of it until 5 mins before the race i noticed my balance had remained the same. So i went to check the bet, and it was not in my pending bets list. I then (slightly panicking) attempted to place the bet again, half thinking maybe its in the system but there is some sort of lag? I repeated the exercise and the same thing happened. The bet was accepted and the balance remained the same and the multi was not listed. It was now 1 min before the jump, i thought about calling but thought no i will quickly do it again, thinking it must be in the system, i just cant see it.

Again i placed the bet and again the balance didnt change and the bet was not listed. Thinking now that i most likely had 3 multis exactly the same on i thought well lets see as it was a win bet. It of course won. So then i started the long process of trying to explain to Ladbrokes and find the right person to talk to. 3 times i tried and was passed from section to section with the call dropping out each time i was transferred. (you know how infuriating that is). I finally got told there was no record of the bets and that there was nothing they could do.

Then Fifty Stars won its race (which i missed) but was aware of the result. So not one to give up easily and feeling confident i had an argument, i rang through again. Finally got through to a woman higher up the chain who said she would get to the bottom of it and had their tech team look into it. I was discovered that the price of Mystic Journey was wildly fluctuating for 10 mins before the race. What was happening was because it was a multi it was taking slightly longer to process and thus there were price changes whilst the bet was being calculated. Therefore even though the bet was (accepted) it was not processed. I pointed out there was no alert system for this and they agreed. They then offered me a $50 dollar bonus bet which i accepted as there were still 2 legs of the multi to run. The next leg was Binmans best Mastering Race 9 which ran 3rd and it was a win bet.

So the multi didnt come off anyway and it was a small amount so it would have paid only 120 or so. However i still got a payout.

Happy ending.

Similar thing happened to me recently ... repeated the process for the 3rd time before the balance changed.

They have got an obvious glitch in their system.  Same situation - multi bet

Really?

Gee.....yeah the thing is with the price flux. I did actually get an alert the second time, but it just said price change and something like will you accept, so i just presumed it takes the flux into account and posts the new price with the bet. Thats how it should work because i had no idea.

Might just pay to put them on a few hours before i guess, till they sort it out. They didnt seem to be very aware of it, but said it was a very busy day for them particularly around that time.

Im on for the soccer multi, no problems there.

I usually put my bets on way in advance but the issue arose when I attempted to place a multi bet on close to the first leg being run.  Might have been 20 - 30 minutes prior.

I actually thought I was doing something wrong until I read your account ... previously,  the Laddies site has crashed or has become treacle slow.

And I ended up getting 21-1 for our multi ... Juve has drifted out to 2.88.   Makes a big difference to the overall with just a .30-.40 percentage point swing.

Some real Monkey Business happening here fellas. It’s also happened to me a few times with TAB online in the past.

The worst one was when I was alive going into the last leg of an NBA multi. Needed Wizards to win and they were up by about 8-10 points with 5 mins or so to go. A cash out offer was available and it was more than a 3 quarter pay out so I decided to accept the offer.

When I clicked accept it came back with cash out unavailable, I just assumed live betting had been suspended so I tried again a minute later as live markets were still up. Offer was the same and I got the same response, cash out unavailable. Well, this happened about 5-6 times and by that stage Wizards had given up the lead, game was lost and so was the bet.

I emailed them asking why I couldn’t accept a cash out offer when they kept offering it. The got back to me with ‘ we experienced technical difficulties with our cash out offers in the system even when they were showing.” I replied cool, your fault, pay me the cash out amount at the time of request.

Well, no cigar, their excuse was unforeseen circumstances and nothing can be done. I said whaaaattt?? A few emails later and I finally got them, they credited me with a $10 bonus bet for the inconvenience ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️. That was a lot less than what I wanted to cash out by a long long way.

I guess there will always be issues online, I don’t mind doing the old walk to the local now for some paper tickets.

Yeah i think thats the issue 20-30 mins prior. Ive never had an issue with the service before apart from some troubles with card verification cause i kept cancelling compromised cards. Its good to read your accounts also. Might pay to know this information on some of the bigger days, such as Cup Day.

I like our multi. Glad you got a good price.

Gee thats a pretty tinny response from the TAB in such a competitive market. I can only suggest you ring customer service next time and just be persistent and every time you get a no, just asked to speak to somebody higher up the tree. Always be polite and well mannered and point out its the systems fault not yours and its your money. Emails tend to get passed around the office i think.

At least you got something i guess. good to know also.

This happened on a weekend so I could only email them but jumped on the blower Monday morning after their generous bonus bet offer to say Thanks, please close my account now.

All i can say is...Juventus havent lost a game all season, it was a short road trip against a middle of the table side, so no excuses there.

Ronaldo didnt play, they had a game during the week and they played like rubbish apparently.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing.

Not to worry Wadda ... from my point of view getting a multi up is always a complete surprise.  Even just the 3 legs.  So I don't do many of them for that reason.

And I figure we may as well look for some value in the picks as well ... thus,  I took a chance on Barca +3.5 instead of +2.5.  But there again,  it is Barca and they nearly always perform to expectations.

It was possibly a trap game for Juve (in hindsight) but you play the game again and they probably win 3-1

Multi's are hard to get ... they get heavily promoted by the betting agencies for good reason.  The lure of the big payout for a tiny outlay is like bees to the honeypot!

Yep, spot on. But i still like them and you only have to snag a few and your a long way in front. I normally outlay 10 per week on sports multis. I got a football one that paid 2400 for 6 legs margins a few years back. If i keep to 10 a week, then i am in front for 11 seasons (not counting finals).

Nice pick on Barca, hadnt heard of them really. (performance wise)

I reloaded during the game when i could see what was happening so i still have a live one using our other 2 picks and Torino, going into the Dees at the line on Sat. Might have to have a little lay on Port just in case. Will be yelling that extra bit louder i think.

So nice to wake up to a healthy account balance. Sleep through the matches (except for DZ) so completely stress free bonus. Very good.

Waking up and winning is a great way to go Wadda ... I'm highly superstitious too so whatever works must be adhered to going forward.  No messin' with a winning formula!

I can't even watch the races a lot of the time (unless it is a big Group 1 race) ... the wireless is the go.  Serves me well too as I got a few winners at Meydan & Sha Tin over the weekend as well.

The combined collect of 20-1 is very good odds looked at in isolation ... 1 or 2 bankers coupled with 1 or 2 value picks seems ideal too.  As always,  you need some luck as well so it's not all scientific.

Yeah im agreeing with that. An anchor leg (if there is such a thing) and a few slightly more exotic legs and the value is there.

I had another strange one on the weekend.  Had a 5 leg multi with our selections. The first leg Harlem was scratched and the multi was worth 49/1 (boosted). The subsequent 3 legs got up, going into a football match the next day. Ladbrocks had the pay out listed as 10/1? A quick mathematical calculation said, i still had 17/1. I figured they would slice out the boosted element, which they did, and Harlem of course. But that still left 4 good legs. I made an inquiry and young chap on the phone quickly did the same calculation and said he agreed. He rang his boss and came back with the other races had scratchings in them so the original (fixed) prices were no longer valid. One example was your pick at 4/1 was adjusted to about 2.40.

In the end the footy leg (my anchor) was Hawthorn win. In the end i couldnt figure out which was worse, the scratchings or the 8 goals the doggies kicked in the last quarter to come back from 30 pts down at 3/4 time!

So the lesson to be learnt is that the price on your multi ticket (where horses are involved) may not be the price you take home at the end of the day.
