Brayshaw only relates to the compensation pick we got for Frawley though? If Frawley had stayed, then we'd probably not needed Lever for another 2-3 years, and could've made a massive offer to another mid. Hard to get a read on whether we've come out on top of that one .

everyone knew martin was the best player at the time the draft, Melbourne just couldn't handle the potential of him going off the rails. I honestly never rated JT but don't blame the recruiters for drafting Scully.

Wouldn't have made a difference, GWS just would've thrown the money at Dusty instead of Scully and he would have gone north. Sheedy was on a mission to take our number 1 pick, didn't matter who it was.

It's amazing now looking back at that. What a shambles of a club we were by making 2 x 21 yo boys captains.

And whats worse is there weren't better candidates.

Not knocking the boys but wowee we were in a bad spot.

Jones was a better candidate

True. A very good point.

I also think that people are mistaken if they think we would have kept Dusty on the straight and narrow.

We should have got Dusty instead of Trengove. Trengove was a disaster while Dusty and Scully are proven players.

Well yeah, but he'd have to put together some consistent seasons and more of last weeks form confidently to say that. Frawley down back would've had us making the finals last year and potentially the season before, as we would not have leaked goals like a sieve.

Took me back to the Jack Watts chest mark dropping heydays that one, though the kid has quite a few years to learn to take that one hands outstretched.

I know we’re knit picking 1 play but the arms need to be extended and so does the knee to keep the player coming out you away from you. Knee out and old mate doesn’t get near punching it.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
