Means they need at least one player back on him opening gaps in their zone. Tiges do it with martin. I'd even have one of spargo, fritsch or Hannen at the 50 arc as well. Cant leave them alone. wow ... sounds like old style football which we are continually told does not work anymore. The usual reason is that it leaves you one man down in the defensive press. 2 Quote

Am i the only one that find it odd that we seem to place more emphasis on worrying about THEIR defence than actually promoting the essence of OUR forward function...i.e...an old ideal i acknowledge...SCORING !!! It ought to be them worrying about us up that end, not other way round. It's essentially a defeatist's outlook. 1 Quote

To take the opposite line bb if yo leave one or two uo forward you are potentially crowding the forward space. In a perfect world the forward is supposed to run to space. It just seems that this year the world is only perfect for the other team in that they break to space so easily whereas we just bomb or stop. Off to see North and Port today ... will watch carefully how Brown positions himself. Great fun going to a stress free footy match. Quote

Sorry..my gist was/is...are we too preoccupied with them....up our end of the ground ? I understand trying to stop the ball coming back out but it seems all very arze about at times. 1 Quote

Even the best players only have the ball in there possession for a few minutes each game, so what you do when you don’t have the ball is arguably more important. It’s a waste to have a player doing nothing for 99% of the game if they could be helping out defensively Quote
