Rosehill Race 2, no 3 Mr Mosiac $4w

Best Bet Saturday

Flemington Race 3 Number 5 Yonce $2.70 W.

In regards to the Black Caviar, Home Affairs won brilliantly at its only start at Flem during the spring. Never raced under 1100m before, don’t think that will be an issue.

I’m finding it a tricky race to be honest. $2.60 for Nature Strip screams throw me in a multi. Eduardo seems to be getting better with age and as mentioned Masked Crusader could enjoy the open space. Good luck fellas.

Well if we win,  we'll be winning early ... and it's always nice to win early!!

The treble with our picks is paying 50-1 whilst the early double (Mr Mosaic & Yonce) is delivering a 12-1 dividend

Good luck punters!

Nice win DZ and very impressive by the sounds of it ... a blackbooker!

Black type races ahead ... Matriarch Stakes on Super Saturday could be next up

Missed the Mr Mosiac race, so no idea what happened there.

Yonce was good, (outside our multi’s)  but I was on Goovy kinda Love and it gave it a good go, it got held up twice and had to drop out wider twice, it’s last 200 was impressive, one to watch.

I've had a good day so far (about time!) ... 2 winners & 4 x same race multis and I've got Yonce going into a couple

Once Mr Mosaic was out I went with Yonce with 2 others in 2 later races.  Yonce was probably overs at 2.50.  Looks a decent type

I’ve had a few winners today and a few bonus bets. So no complaints here.

Still hoping for more, did just miss a first 4 earlier which would have been nice

Mightybeel with a very good display

Hone affairs fights of Naturestrip and takes the choccies. Reckon it rallied three times to stay in front. Cracking race!

Certainly was a great race ... and if Nature Strip doesn't botch the start it probably wins

But that's racing and JMac is the gun and he jumped on the right horse.  7-1 was excellent value, all things considered

Yeah it was poor off the start, a fav of mine in the astrologist also ran a good race considering the class it was against.

Home Affairs impressed me tho.

13 Group races coming up on Saturday including 5 x G1's & 6 x G2's.  Super Saturday in February!

Caulfield probably gets the most attention with the Blue Diamond, Futurity Stks & Oakleigh Plate but the 2 G1's up in Sydney (Chipping Norton & Surround Stks) will both attract a lot of good horses

And apparently Super Saturday at Flemington will be split up down the track so as to ensure that the All Star Mile is run before the Australian Cup on a regular basis (as a big lead in)

As it stands, this year the All Star Mile is to be run on the same day as the Golden Slipper Day up in Sydney (March 19th) where 5 x G1's are held on the same day ... not sure what Peter V'landys would make of all that!

Especially with the 1500m G1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) up against the All Star Mile

Lofty Strike draws barrier 13 😩

Wide open this year, that's for sure.  And the barrier draw doesn't make things any clearer from a punting point of view

English Riviera has drawn well for a fast beginner though.  Tony McEvoy would be happy!

It's only one turn at Caulfield so the backmarkers aren't out of it ... but they'll need to negotiate traffic.  Revolutionary Miss has a chance

And I wouldn't be ruling a line through Lofty Strike especially if Jamie Mott can get the horse into a decent position, mid race

Oh I’m not, I’ll still back it. Just makes it a little harder

Big day for Tassie racing today at Launceston*

So I backed the first 2 winners but something was telling me to put them into a running double ... which is what I didn't do!!!  Ugh!!

Can't complain too much though as I got double winnings on both

*3 Stakes races which includes the Launceston Cup (Race 8)

Reckon Lofty Strikes wins Gorg ... needs cover and a good position (midfield?) but will fly home

The danger might be the horse that should lead (English Riviera)

You'd have to wonder whether they can get through the meetings up North on Saturday ... days of heavy torrential rain forecast and Randwick is already a Heavy8 (Doomben is a Heavy10 right now)

But here are the 5 Group1 races for Saturday

If it gets across and into a middle with some cover it should come home strong. The worry is if they spread wide and it can’t slide across and into a good position. Be interesting to see what the early pace is like.

Sudney could be a very wet track. They will do everything to get it up but I expect a fair few scratchings

Lofty Strike with a lame right front fetlock

... examination by the Vets tomorrow

Well that’s no good, I’ve already backed it.

That would be a shame, I really want to see it up against this field

Best Bet Saturday

Caulfield Race 3 No.14 El Patroness $4 Win

Just read Lofty Strike has been ruled out of the Blue Diamond. There’s been a few horses that have gone vet inspections the last 24-48 hours, Sebonack, Kiki Express (both passed fit) and Rampant Lion will be re-inspected later today.

Good luck fellas.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
