Had a similar day on Saturday Wadda but backed a few winners today to make up for it.

And I'm with you with regards to Russian Camelot ... looks a real good stayer in the making.  If not already.

There were a number of impressive winners at Caulfield on Saturday ... had backed a few of them previously and probably should have stuck with them.  News Girl,  Shot of Irish & Oasis Girl especially!

But I was on So Si Bon at least ... oh the irony!

I knowwwww.....i agonized over it and ended up going with Hang Man !

Apparently SoSiBon has been gelded, the ultimate gear change and thats its second win since.  Was there a change of stable also??

Still a Hayes horse and in fact the horse has won 3 races since the gear change (so to speak)

It's racing well and savaging the finishing line these days.  A decent G3 horse and I was confident it could win Saturday.  It's a striking looking animal and now has prizemoney in excess of $1.2Million.

The Goodwood is coming up on Saturday Wadda ... a top field being assembled by the looks of it.

I had Ranier on top along with DZ's pick (Sikorsky) as well.

A bit of luck today and we might come out on top.  Fingers crossed Wadda!

At work today so you blokes might want to give a bit of commentary on proceedings!

I was originally going to go Ranier, but the odds on last weeks pick were hard to go past. What a pity it didnt get a start. (follow)

OK, well we will do our best to put up a few comments as the day goes along. Have a good day.

Yep good day so far fellas. Also on the early double. Apart from our multi i have an interest in Teleplay in Race 8 Syd. Suffered a little set back during the run in Adelaide last start, represents value at $21.

Geez ya don't have to be dead to be stiff,  Wadda

That's a heartbreaker

Might take your lead and go the place & win multis tomorrow at Sha Tin.  Just a series of small outlays to win a bit.

Moreira & Purton are sure to feature

Yeah i hear ya Macca & thanks...was stiff alright ! Haha I got on a roll early and it just kept going. I had several other multis including ours, but if i took a 4 leg multi i still lost on 1 leg and ditto 3 leg multis. Despite having 7 or 8 selections that got up, i didnt get a return. The cash out before the King of Leogrance leg was 357. I was very tempted to cash out, then reinvest, but the odds had come in on the remaining legs, so i thought id let it ride and make another decision after the 5th leg. Sadly that was not to be. I only got annoyed when the remaining legs saluted haha....but hey i only dropped 30 on the day and saw some terrific races, so its all good.

I still think its the way to go, mainly because you lose less than if you bet on each individual horse. Also if you have a live multi rolling, you tend to bet less on the races upcoming i think. If i went the other way on those 7 selections and picked them individually, i would have outlayed say 70 (10 each) and only returned 190, for a combined win of 130, so no big deal. I prefer to live on the edge ! Its more fun although my furniture might not agree ! The trick i reckon,  is to pick the right races, skip a few....you dont have to get them in a row. I have a tendency to also go for races with less runners, when possible.

I notice there are a lot of races on internationally today, seems its coming back. Its a fairly good social distance sport i guess. Lets hope cricket is the same !

Good luck at Sha Tin.

Enter the Dragon !

I must say that studying the form and discovering new ways of punting is a lot of fun.  The 'hope' attached does help of course Wadda.

So I have plucked out a series of multi's at Sha Tin today - all with small outlays to win ok amounts.  Was it HG who declared that you back the 2nd or 3rd favourite for the place?  Multi 'em up to avoid large outlays though.

Got a few favourites involved as well.  If I can double my total outlay I'll be happy but there's a couple of big dividends in there if luck is on my side.

Good luck to all those having a punt today!

Ok, yes i have a few small multis on. Mixed with a few Bendigo runners....

With the GF date possibly being set for Oct 31,  what should racing do with their dates?

Maybe change some of the Saturday dates to Sunday?

The Melbourne Cup on the Tuesday wouldn't be changed you'd imagine so Derby day on the Sunday?  Short back-up for the Hotham Hcp winner and/or the Derby winner if the Cup is the goal.

Cox Plate on the Sunday to avoid the Saturday twilight AFL prelim final and the Friday evening Prelim final?

Caulfield Cup could go ahead on the Sat arvo as the Saturday AFL Elimination final is on the Sat evening.

And Guineas day would be up against the footy as well as the first week of the footy finals now goes Thurs Eve,  Fri Eve,  Sat Arvo & Sat Eve.

Maybe the Sunday for the Guineas as well?

They could move everything back a month but then there would be no real build up for the Melbourne Cup.

And the VRC should be working with their NSW counterparts.

Theres only 1 real solution Macca.......

Move Xmas into February ! Yep Santa has to take a back seat this year, as all sports everywhere attempt to finish their seasons. Run the Cox Plate on Xmas day and the Melbourne Cup on New Years Day ! Finish the Spring Carnival when everyone is on holidays! Perfect.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
